Morgan City woman arrested for 6th DWI
THIBODAUX — A 47-year-old Morgan City woman was arrested Friday for driving while intoxicated for the sixth time in 10 years after Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle cross the center line multiple times, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Lisa Callais, 47, of the 100 block of Andras Street in Morgan City, was arrested Friday for DWI fourth and subsequent offenses, driving under suspension and improper lane usage.
At about 11:45 a.m. Friday, patrol deputies in Thibodaux were flagged down by a concerned citizen reporting a reckless driver on St. Mary Street, the release stated.
Deputies observed the suspect’s vehicle cross the centerline multiple times and initiated a traffic stop, the news release stated. Deputies identified the driver as Callais. She was exhibiting signs of possible intoxication but refused to submit to a field sobriety test or a Breathalyzer test, according to the news release.
She eventually submitted to a blood test, and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Deputies discovered Callais had been charged with five prior DWI offenses in Louisiana in the last 10 years, and that her license was currently suspended due to previously refusing to submit to a blood test, the release stated.
She was jailed on $78,000 bail. She is additionally being held for Terrebonne Parish on $500,000 bail related to her fourth DWI offense.
