The district attorney’s office declined to prosecute a 29-year-old Morgan City woman on an obscenity charge stemming from a July incident at the Morgan City Jail, Assistant District Attorney Anthony Saleme said this morning.
Devan N. Serpa, 29, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested July 3 on a warrant for principal to illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrumentality, principal to aggravated criminal damage to property and obscenity.
Upon being incarcerated, Serpa was accused of exposing her genital area to a male correctional officer during booking procedures, which led to the obscenity charge, police said.
Serpa still faces the other charges.
