Patterson man arrested in armed robbery investigation

A 27-year-old Patterson man was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon Tuesday while police were investigating an armed robbery in the area of Barrow Street in Morgan City, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release.
Theodore M. Harris, 27, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
An officer observed Harris, who was a possible suspect in the armed robbery, flee into a residence on Freret Street in Morgan City, Crouch said.
With the assistance of the owner of the residence, police located Harris hiding under a bed in the residence. Harris, a convicted felon, had a handgun on him and was jailed with no bail set yet. The initial investigation into the armed robbery is ongoing and additional charges may result at the conclusion of the investigation, Crouch said.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Charles Ray Hebert, 44, of Banner Drive in Franklin, was arrested at 2:33 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to pay a probation fee, on a warrant for failure to pay a drug screen fee, and on a warrant for a probation violation.
Hebert turned himself in to the police department and was jailed.
—Corey A. Chapman, 48, of Bernice Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:43 p.m. Monday on a warrant for felony theft (value-$848.43).
Chapman, who was already in jail on charges related to a theft from a local convenience store, was arrested on another warrant for the theft of goods from a La. 182 convenience store. Chapman stole over the counter medicines and drinks valued at $848.43, Crouch said. Chapman was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints during a 24-hour period in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Frank J. Roberts Sr., 46, of the 100 block of Amhurst Drive in Maurice, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Nov. 5, on a warrant for monetary instrument abuse. Roberts was transported from the Terrebonne Parish Jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant.
The warrant stems from a 2010 investigation into the use of more than three dozen counterfeit twenty dollar bills at a store in Bayou Vista. The detective used surveillance video to identify Roberts as the perpetrator and learned that Roberts was a suspect in several other incidents in nearby parishes involving counterfeit twenties, Hebert said. Roberts was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Christopher C. Adams, 39, of the 2600 block of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants for failure to appear on charges of criminal neglect of family. Adams was taken to St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement from Assumption Parish where he was taken into custody on the warrants. Bail is set at $16,088.57.
—Brett A. Rome, 21, of the 400 block of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods.
—Agatha M. McCleary, 21, of the 400 block of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods.
A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from a store employee that Rome and McCleary were seen placing items in a diaper bag and then leaving the store without paying for the goods, Hebert said. Rome and McCleary were released on summons to appear in court Jan. 31.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Jennifer Stevens, 30, of California Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and abuse of toxic vapors. Stevens was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
