Police: Brother cut sibling’s throat
A Berwick man is in critical condition after police say his brother slit his throat Thursday night.
Timothy “Bo” Byers, 49, of the 100 block of Guzzetta Drive was charged at 7:25 p.m. with aggravated second degree battery.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard said there was no struggle or fight at the Guzzetta Street home before the 6-foot-7-inch, 265-pound Byers left two large lacerations on his brother’s throat. The chief indicated Byers may have reacted to verbal provocation, but said the investigation is continuing.
The victim, 52, was transferred to Teche Regional Medical Center via Acadian Ambulance. He was treated and transferred in critical condition to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, according to Teche spokeswoman Sabrina Roy.
Byers remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
