Police: Man charged after hitting woman in her face

A 52-year-old Morgan City man was charged with battery Tuesday after he allegedly struck a woman in the face, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Robert Narcisse, 52, of Grove Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:26 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of simple battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Grove Street in regard to a disturbance. Officers arrived and the victim stated that she and Narcisse were having a verbal altercation that turned physical, Blair said. According to the police report, the victim stated that Narcisse struck her in the face because she did not want to leave the residence, Blair said. Officers located Narcisse in the residence and he was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Megan B. Long, 23, of Chackbay, was arrested at 12:57 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of driving under suspension and on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging her with failure to appear.
Officers were dispatched to the area of La. 182 near Myrtle Street in regard to a vehicle crash. When officers arrived, they spoke to one of the drivers, Long.
Long stated that she tried to enter La. 182 from a parking lot, when she struck the other vehicle. Officers determined Long’s driver’s license was suspended and she held active warrants for the 16th Judicial Court. Long was jailed.
—Jose R. Ramos, 18, of Patton Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of no driver’s license and speeding 68 mph in a 45 mph zone.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 near the Greenwood Overpass observed a speeding vehicle. The driver, Ramos, didn’t have a valid driver’s license and was jailed.
—Norman Carter, 51, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:16 a.m. today on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear and on the charge of appearing intoxicated in public.
A patrol officer observed a person in the area of Railroad Avenue and Pecos Street who appeared intoxicated, Blair said. When the officer approached the person, identified as Carter, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath, Blair said.
Carter was determined to have an active warrant for the 16th Judicial Court. Carter was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 36 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Richard Turner Jr., 55, of the 700 block of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:49 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of undersize red drum and possession over limit of red drum on water. A deputy made contact with Turner at his residence and located the active warrant for his arrest. Turner was jailed with no bail set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
