Police: Man intended to sell LSD, marijuana

A 42-year-old Morgan City man was charged Friday with intending to distribute LSD and marijuana in Morgan City after officers made a traffic stop, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Alexander H. Armanino, 42, of Seventh Street in New Orleans, was arrested at 9:31 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of LSD with intent to distribute, transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity, violation of uniform controlled dangerous sub-stance law, improper turning and no motor vehicle inspection sticker.
An officer patrolling the area of La. 182 near the U.S. 90 off ramp observed a vehicle making an improper turn onto La. 182. A traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle was found to be without a motor vehicle inspection sticker.
The driver, identified as Armanino, gave officers several different stories concerning his activities which raised officers’ suspicions, Blair said. Alexander granted officers permission to search the vehicle where they located suspected marijuana, LSD, drug paraphernalia and proceeds that were believed to be obtained from illegal drug transactions.
The suspected marijuana and LSD was packaged in a way that led officers to believe Alexander had intent to distribute the narcotics. The location of the incident was within the area of a local day care center in violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws. Alexander was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Crystal N. Casteel, 38, of U.S. 90 in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and on warrants for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers responded to a motel on Brashear Avenue in regard to a complaint of illegal narcotics activity in one of the rooms. Officers went to the room where they made contact with Casteel, who told officers she had contraband inside the room and granted officers permission to search.
Officers located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Casteel was jailed.
—Jacob T. Alcina, 28, of Kem Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:01 a.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of Subutex, driving under suspension and improper turning.
—Malcom J. Smith, 29, of Bayside Village in Berwick, was arrested at 2:01 a.m. Saturday on the charge of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.
A patrolling officer in the area of Sixth Street near Freret Street observed a vehicle making an improper turn. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Alcina, and the passenger as Smith. Alcina had a suspended driver’s license.
Alcina was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana, methamphetamine and Subutex. Officers also located suspected marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine inside the vehicle in the area where Smith was seated. Both Smith and Alcina were jailed.
—Sierra Garret, 21, of Gibson, was arrested at 2:29 a.m. Saturday on the charge of simple battery.
Officers responded to an address on Everett Street in regard to a subject knocking at the door and refusing to leave. Officers arrived and located Garret standing at the front door. While speaking to Garret, the complain-ant opened the door. Garret rushed at the complainant and struck the complainant in the face, Blair said. Garret was jailed.
—Ramon Garcia, 40, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:18 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of cocaine, expired inspection sticker and no driver’s license.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle in the area of Railroad Avenue near Federal Avenue with an expired inspection sticker. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Garcia. Garcia did not have a valid driver’s license. Officers also located suspected cocaine on Garcia, who was jailed.
—Kenneth G. Evans III, 36, of Leo Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Saturday on the charges of resisting an officer with force, battery on a police officer and on two 16th Judicial District Court warrants for criminal neglect of family and driving under suspension.
—Anthony D. Gant, 34, of Rayne, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Saturday on the charges of improper lane usage, no vehicle insurance, unsafe vehicle and 16th Judicial District Court warrants for resisting by flight, improper lane usage and open container.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle on Railroad Avenue near Federal Avenue traveling in the wrong lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Gant. The vehicle did not have vehicle insurance. Officers made contact with a passenger of the vehicle who gave the officer a false name. An additional responding officer observed the passenger, who was known to the officers as Evans, Blair said.
Evans was placed under arrest when he began fighting with officers. After a short struggle Evans was subdued. Both Gant and Evens were jailed.
—Billi Driskell, 40, of Park Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
Officer responded to an address on Roderick Street in regard to a female causing a disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke with the complainant and witnesses about the incident. They advised that Driskell went to the residence and began yelling profanities at the complainant. Driskell was jailed.
—Aubaray White, 24, of Belanger Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:52 p.m. Sunday on warrants charging him with domestic abuse battery, failure to appear for possession of marijuana and domestic abuse battery by strangulation in the presence of a juvenile.
Officers responded to an address on Belanger Street in regard to a domestic disturbance. Officers located White outside the residence. A warrants check revealed White had active arrest warrants with the Morgan City Police Department at which time he was arrested.
Officers spoke with the victim who stated that the victim and White began to argue when White grabbed the victim by the throat, threw the victim onto a bed and struck the victim, Blair said. Several small children were present during the incident. White was jailed.
—Henry Pierce, 37, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Sunday on a warrant with the 16th Judicial District Court for a drug court violation.
Pierce was located by patrol officers in the area of Federal Avenue and arrested on an outstanding warrant for the 16th Judicial District Court for drug court violation. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed.
—Michael J. Torres, 25, of Adams Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:42 p.m. Sunday on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, driving under suspension, possession of Schedule I controlled dangerous substance-marijuana, and driving while intoxicated.
Officers responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle at a Fifth Street business. Officers were provided a description of the truck and suspect involved.
According to witness, the owner left the vehicle run-ning outside the business when an unknown subject entered the vehicle and left the area.
Patrolling officers located the suspect and vehicle at the corner of Brashear Avenue and Fourth Street where the suspect, Torres, was detained. Torres exhibited signs of impairment and was ar-rested.
Torres was also found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and in possession of suspect-ed marijuana.
He was transported to the Morgan City Police Depart-ment where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .163 grams percent.
He was booked and re-mains jailed. The stolen vehicle was returned undamaged to the victim.
—Dion M. Maize, 24, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:58 p.m. Sunday on a warrant with the 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear-carnal knowledge of a juve-nile.
Maize was located on Rail-road Avenue and identified as a wanted person by patrolling officers. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
—Freesia K. Colar, 27, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:04 p.m. Sunday on the charges of driving under suspension, stop sign violation and a warrant with the 16th Judi-cial District Court for failure to appear-traffic citations.
Officers patrolling the area of Sixth and Freret streets observed a vehicle fail to stop properly at an intersection. The driver was detained and identified as Colar.
Colar could not produce a valid driver’s license and was discovered to be driving a vehicle with a suspended license. Colar was also found to be wanted for failing to appear in the 16th Judicial District Court for several other violations.
She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and jailed.
—Brent J. Terrebonne, 44, of Cut Off, was arrested at 12:44 a.m. today on the charges of driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, possession of legend drug without prescription (Buspirone), and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law.
A patrolling officer was in the area of Federal Avenue near Bowman Street when a vehicle was observed stopped in the middle of the roadway. The officer spoke with the driver, identified as Terrebonne.
A driver’s license check revealed that Terrebonne had a suspended license. Terrebonne was placed under arrest and officers located suspected marijuana and Buspirone in the vehicle.
The location of the incident was within the area of a local school in violation of the uniform controlled dangerous substance law. Terrebonne was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 108 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Ronell Bourgeois, 43, of the 200 block of La. 317 in Centerville, was arrested at 5:02 p.m. Saturday on the charges of aggravated flight from an officer, theft of goods, illegal possession of stolen things and on a warrant for theft of goods.
A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that the suspected shoplifter was identified as Bourgeois. Store security stated that Bourgeois left the business without paying for two 32-inch flat screen TVs, Hebert said.
Another deputy in Centerville located Bourgeois on the corner of La. 182 and La. 317 in Centerville and initiated a traffic stop. Bourgeois stopped the vehicle but then accelerated again after refusing the deputy’s commands to exit the car, Hebert said.
The deputy followed Bourgeois to his home where he stopped the vehicle a second time. Bourgeois was detained pending further investigation. The deputy located the TVs reported stolen inside the vehicle. The deputy also located the active warrant for Bourgeois, who was jailed with no bail set.
—Malcolm Kennedy, 62, of the 12000 block of Troy Street in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 7:25 p.m. Friday on a warrant for obtaining a prescription by fraud. On March 28, 2014, a narcotics detective began investigating a complaint of a fraudulent prescription from a pharmacy in Morgan City.
The detective found that Kennedy went to the pharmacy and attempted to fill a fake prescription for oxycodone and cyclobenzaprine. A warrant was issued for Ken-nedy’s arrest. A deputy transported Kennedy from the East Baton Rouge Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. No bail is set.
—T.J. Williams IV, 23, of Chateau Living Center in the 700 block of Village Road in Kenner, was arrested at 12:59 a.m. Saturday on the charges of resisting an officer by giving false information, possession of Schedule II crack cocaine and on warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family.
—Trevor Hebert, 20, of the 1000 block of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:02 p.m. Sunday on the charge of resisting an officer. A deputy responded to a complaint of two subjects attempting to use a coat hanger to break into a vehicle in a parking lot in Bayou Vista.
Upon arrival, the deputy observed two men attempting to enter into a locked vehicle. The deputy made contact with the men, who were both detained pending further investigation. One of the men repeatedly refused to identify himself to the deputy, Hebert said.
As the investigation pro-gressed, the deputy confirmed that the men were attempting to retrieve keys that had been accidentally locked in the vehicle, Hebert said. The man who refused to comply with the deputy’s request was identified as Hebert and was booked into the parish jail. He was released on $1,000 bail.
—Amber Swanson, 18, of the 3000 block of Keith Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:32 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of swimming, diving or fishing from parish bridges, wharf piers and boat ramps. A deputy located Swanson at a business on Brashear Avenue in Morgan City on the warrant. Swanson was jailed with bail set at $557.50.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Aketa Francis, 23, of the 600 block of Pacific Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:08 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with disturbing the peace fighting. Francis was jailed on $195 bail.
—George Harvey III, 34, of the 600 block of Pacific Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:08 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with disturbing the peace fighting. Harvey was jailed on $175 bail.
—Eric Driskill, 40, of the 3100 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:16 p.m. Saturday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of oxycodone, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of Subutex, and possession/distribution of a legend drug without a pre-scription. No bail is set.
—John Bogan Jr., 44, of the 1300 block of Julia Street in Thibodaux, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. Sunday on a 17th Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on the charge of no seatbelt. Bogan was released on his own recogni-zance.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Christopher Adams, 55, of the 1100 block of Francis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. Sun-day on the charges of simple battery involving domestic abuse and domestic abuse aggravated assault. He was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Katie Adams, 31, of the 1100 block of Francis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. Sunday on a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods under $500. She was jailed on $300 bail.
