Police: Man shot prop gun while trespassing

A 29-year-old Morgan City man was booked into jail Tuesday after police deter-mined he fired a prop hand-gun while trespassing on private property on Levee Road, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Robert J. Barrilleaux, 29, of Cypress Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of criminal trespassing and discharging of firearms inside city limits.
Officers responded to the area of Levee Road in regard to a call of several gunshots. Witnesses directed officers to a property on the unprotected side of the levee where the person firing the weapon had been seen. Police located Barrilleaux, who matched the description provided.
Barrilleaux was found to be in possession of a prop handgun, which he told the officers he had fired. The location of the incident was on private property and Barrilleaux was trespassing. Barrilleaux was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Brittany N. Morgan, 25, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace.
Morgan was transported from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office jail to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to an arrest warrant. Morgan was jailed.
—Clyde W. Prater, 33, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of following too closely.
Officers located Prater in the area of Front Street and Brashear Avenue where he was arrested on an active warrant. Prater was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 32 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Brittany Morgan, 25, of the 1000 block of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday on three warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 17, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A correctional officer transported Morgan from the Kenner Police Department to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants. No bail is set.
—Clara Watkins, 65, of the 300 block of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. Watkins turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin and was transport-ed to the parish jail for booking. She was later released on $1,000 bail.
—Aketa Francis, 23, of the 300 block of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:59 a.m. today for criminal trespass, remaining where forbidden and disturbing the peace intoxicated.
A deputy responded to a complaint of trespassing at a home on Cane Street in Bayou Vista and located Francis knocking on the door of the home. While speaking with Francis, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath.
During the investigation, the deputy found that Francis had been advised to stay off of the property by the owner. Francis was booked into parish jail and later released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 15.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Pamela Hubler, 52, of Third Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of driving under suspension. Hubler was released on $1,000 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
