Police: Man threatened teen

A 44-year-old Patterson man was charged with battery and assault on a 15-year-old girl after allegedly threatening to hit her with a chair, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—David A. Barnett, 44, of U.S. 90 in Patterson, was arrested at 4:03 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of simple battery involving a juvenile and aggravated assault involving a juvenile.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Arenz Street in Morgan City in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they were told that Barnett had committed a battery on a 15-year-old girl.
According to reports, Barnett committed the battery on the victim and threatened to hit her with a chair, Blair said. Barnett was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Alyssa L. Ashmore, 25, of Arenz Street in Morgan City, at 4:16 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with failure to appear, a warrant charging her with contempt of court and a warrant charging her with three counts of failure to pay fines.
Ashmore was placed under arrest at the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants she held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Ashmore was jailed.
—Michael Merrick, 52, of Baldwin, at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of appearing in public intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers made contact with Merrick in the area of Federal Avenue and Lawrence Street. Officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on Merrick’s breath and he could not maintain his balance while speaking to officers, Blair said. Officers also located an item used to smoke illegal narcotics in Merrick possession. Merrick was jailed.
—Ashley Lanclos, 22, of David Road in Bayou Vista, at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of driving under suspension and failure to signal.
A patrol officer in the area of Federal Avenue and Wise Street observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Lanclos, was determined to have a suspended driver’s license. Lanclos was jailed.
—Tyrone Barnes, 59, of Apple Street in Morgan City, at 10:46 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of driving under suspension and improper lane usage.
A patrol officer in the area of Sixth Street observed a vehicle traveling in the middle of the roadway. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Barnes, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Barnes was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—James Goins, 31, of the 100 block of Sundown Court in Gibson, at 3:56 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of improper lane usage and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
—Chasity Marshall, 26, of the 600 block of 79 Pines Lane in Bayou Vista, at 3:56 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of methamphetamine.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for crossing over the fog line on La. 182 near the U.S. 90 junction in Berwick. Detectives made contact with the driver, Goins, and the passenger, Marshall.
During the traffic stop investigation, the Morgan City Police Department K-9 officer arrived on scene and indicated a response on the vehicle. Detectives searched the vehicle and located a large bag of methamphetamine under the driver seat and a small bag of methamphetamine on the rear passenger side floorboard. Both suspects were jailed with no bail set.
—Brent M. Dalton, 34, of the 100 block of Sydney Jo Lane in Berwick, at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. With the assistance of Berwick Police, a deputy located Dalton at his residence on the warrant. Bail is set at $200,000.
—Kenneth J. Alfred, 41, of the 500 block of Hilda Street in Morgan City, at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of driving under suspension, possession of Schedule II hydrocodone and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and possession of Schedule II hydrocodone.
A deputy responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of U.S. 90 and Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with the drivers involved in the crash, one of whom was identified as Alfred.
The other driver, Whitney Paige Robichaux, 21, of Houma, was cited for careless operation with a crash after rear-ending Alfred’s vehicle, Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Traci Landry said.
The deputy learned that Alfred was driving the vehicle with a suspended license and also located an active warrant for his arrest. While taking the subject into custody, the deputy discovered over a dozen hydrocodone pills inside a container in Alfred’s pocket. Alfred was jailed with no bail set.
—Marc Ramsey, 35, of the 600 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, at 10:11 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy located Ramsey at his residence on the warrant. Bail is set at $9,114.96.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Emilie Pittman, 22, of Superior Lane in Morgan City, at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of speeding 45 mph in a 20 mph zone and driving under suspension. Pittman was released on $1,500 bail.
—Gail Rogers, 65, of Sydney Jo Lane in Berwick, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of theft by shoplifting. Rogers was jailed on $300 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Demetrius Green, 24, of the 300 block of Main Street in Patterson, at 12:40 a.m. today on the charge of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. No bail was set.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Robert Johnson Jr., 28, of First Street in Patterson, at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for the 32nd Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charges of failure to pay fines and costs, and possession of marijuana third offense. Johnson was jailed with no bail set.
