Police: Man threw a pot, hit child

A 38-year-old Morgan City man was charged with third offense domestic abuse battery after he allegedly threw a pot which hit a juvenile on the leg, police said.
—David S. Blair, 38, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Monday on the charges of domestic abuse battery third offense and disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Bush Street in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, the complainant stated that her husband was very intoxicated.
She also stated that he threw a pot that hit her juvenile son in the head, police said. The complainant stated that her husband had fallen during the disturbance causing a laceration on his head. Officers located Blair in the residence and he appeared to be intoxicated, police said.
Officers asked Blair to explain what had occurred, but he refused to answer any questions. Blair was jailed.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Leo J. Dore, 42, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:31 a.m. Monday on the charges of appearing in public intoxicated and simple criminal damage to property valued at $2,000.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Egle Street in reference to a man carrying a sledge hammer, Blair said. A witness stated that a man went to the residence and busted the windshield of a vehicle with a sledge hammer.
The suspect was reported to be heading west on Egle Street, Blair said. Officers located the suspect, Dore, on Marshall Street near Federal Avenue. Dore stated that he went to the residence and damaged the windshield of his ex-girlfriend’s car with a sledge hammer, Blair said.
Officers noticed Dore appeared intoxicated, Blair said. Dore was jailed.
—Shannon Nash, 31, of Ellis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:34 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with contempt of court.
Nash was already incarcerated at the Morgan City Police Department Jail, when a warrant from the Sixth Ward City Court was filed for her arrest. Nash was rebooked.
—Heath A. Loupe, 18, of Maple Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:06 a.m. Saturday on the charges of hit and run driving, careless operation, no driver’s license and simple criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Fifth Street in regard to a hit and run vehicle crash. When officers arrived in the area, witnesses stated that they heard a crash and observed a truck fleeing the area with a trash can stuck underneath the vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle in the area of Seventh Street and Ditch Avenue. Officers made contact with the driver, Loupe, who admitted to crashing into the vehicles and hitting the garbage can, Blair said. Loupe was jailed.
—Shakettia Skinner, 24, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:17 p.m. Saturday on the charges of hit and run driving and careless operation
A patrolling officer was advised of a vehicle accident in the area of La. 182 and Cottonwood Street. When the officer arrived, the owner of one of the vehicles stated that she was traveling west on La. 182 when the other vehicle involved pulled in front of her, crashing into the front of her vehicle, Blair said.
The driver of that vehicle continued traveling west, Blair said. A witness stated that the vehicle was parked on Sandra Street, and a short time later, the driver of the vehicle came back to the scene, Blair said.
The driver, Skinner, stated she left the scene because she did not have her driver’s license, Blair said. Skinner was jailed and later released on bail.
—Lakendrick C. Chambers, 25, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:37 p.m. Saturday on a warrant charging her with two counts of failure to appear.
Chambers was arrested by the Berwick Police Department and was transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
—Paul B. Lavergne, 51, of Canal Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:20 p.m. Saturday on the charge of simple criminal damage to property less than $750.
Officers were dispatched to a supermarket on La. 182 in Morgan City in regard to a customer who had destroyed some property. When officers arrived, management stated that Lavergne had removed the heads of some shrimp and placed the heads back into the cooler, Blair said.
Management stated that it was not store policy to remove the heads of the shrimp and the value of the items he destroyed totaled $17, Blair said. Lavergne was jailed and later released on bail.
—Khadijeh Parker, 22, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:48 p.m. Sunday on a warrant charging her with three counts of failure to appear.
Parker turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department on warrants from the Sixth Ward City Court. Parker was jailed.
—Monte A. Davis, 43, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
—Dale J. Crouch, 46, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
Officers working the Lake End Park area observed two people engaged in a fist fight, Blair said. Officers were able to break up the fight between the two who both appeared intoxicated, Blair said. Davis and Crouch were jailed.
—Bobby J. Scully, 33, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:08 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Egle Street in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, the complainant stated that her daughters had gotten into a verbal alteration. A local warrants check was done on both daughters, and officers learned that Scully held an active warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court, Blair said. Scully was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 157 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Heath Landry, 18, of the 300 block of Hilda Street in Lafayette, was arrested at 7:51 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no driver’s license.
Narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the driver cross onto the shoulder of the roadway in Bayou Vista and travel in the left lane, causing a rolling road block for several miles, Hebert said.
Detectives made contact with the driver, Landry, and learned that he had no valid driver’s license, Hebert said. During the stop, Landry admitted to detectives that he had marijuana in his possession, the sheriff said.
Detectives received consent to search him and his vehicle and located a marijuana cigarette and rolling papers, Hebert said. Landry was jailed and released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 19.
—James Wilks, 54, of Ruby Court in Grantville, was arrested at 3:12 a.m. Saturday on the charge of driving while intoxicated. A deputy responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on La. 182 in Siracusa.
The deputy made contact with one of the drivers, identified as Wilks, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, Hebert said. Wilks later registered 0.171 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Wilks was jailed and released on bail.
—Randall McKee, 38, of the 100 block of Degravelle Road in Amelia, was arrested at 5:59 p.m. Saturday on the charge of theft of assets of an aged person. A deputy responded to a report of a theft that occurred at a business on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia.
During the investigation, the deputy identified McKee as the person who stole a purse that had been left unguarded by an elderly female victim, Hebert said. The deputy located the purse and its contents, which had been discarded in a trashcan and at another nearby business and returned the stolen items to the victim. McKee was jailed and released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 19.
—Alex Hernandez, 33, of the 100 block of Riverview Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 4:01 a.m. today on the charge of unauthorized use of a movable. A deputy investigating a complaint of an unauthorized use of a vehicle learned that Hernandez was driving a pick-up truck without the owner’s permission, Hebert said. Hernandez was jailed with no bail set.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff Ronnie Theriot reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Kaylyn Trahan, 27, of the 100 block of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was charged with possession of Schedule IV drugs, simple possession of marijuana, prohibited acts-possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of controlled dangerous substance law.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
