Police: Pregnant woman attacked in home invasion

Possible suspects are being sought in connection with a residential burglary Friday in Charenton during which a pregnant woman was attacked, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
At 11:25 a.m. Friday, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 7000 block of La. 87 in Charenton. During the subsequent investigation, detectives learned that two black males wearing masks and dark clothing attacked a pregnant female victim, hitting and kicking her after she arrived home at the residence, the release stated.
The victim was able to escape the two attackers and fled to a neighbor’s home nearby, according to the release. The victim was transported to Franklin Foundation Hospital. She is listed as being in stable condition. Investigators are now seeking information from anyone who may have seen the perpetrators in the area.
The description of the two males is limited. They are described as being of average height. One is of husky build, and the other is described as being thin, the release stated.
