Police Reports 8-3-16

Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrests:
Gerald Spain Jr., 37, of Oakdale Street, Franklin, was arrested Tuesday at 632 p.m. on a district court failure to appear warrant on a charge of driving under suspension. No bond was set.
Joaquima Brown, 22, of Twelfth Street, Franklin, was arrested today at 1:43 a.m. on charges of bicycle lights required, resisting an officer, criminal trespassing and simple battery on an officer. No bond was set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the arrest of Bryce J. Tabor, 21, of 105 Hendricks St., Patterson, Tuesday at 1:19 p.m. on a warrant charging him with stalking. The detective assigned to the case reportedly found evidence that Tabor threatened the female victim’s life and the lives of others multiple times via text message. No bail is set.
Ronald R. Wesley Jr., 33, of 19821 La. 182, Jeanerette, was arrested Tuesday at 5:38 p.m. on a warrant charging him with criminal damage to property and aggravated battery. No bond was set.
Ronald Johnson, 25, of 505 Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, was arrested Tuesday at 6:33 p.m. on a charge of domestic abuse battery in the presence of juveniles. No bond was set.
Narcotics Division agents arrested Van C. Clay, 37, of 11411 Old Jeanerette Road, Jeanerette, Tuesday at 5:09 p.m. on charges of improper lane use, two counts resisting an officer with force, second degree battery of a police officer, battery of a police officer, obstruction of justice, criminal trespassing, criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a Legend Drug without a prescription (Augmentin), and a warrant charging him with careless operation of a motor vehicle, maximum speed limit violation, criminal trespassing, hit and run driving, flight from an officer, no license plate and no vehicle insurance.
Narcotics detectives patrolling the Four Corners area reportedly saw a vehicle drive off the roadway on two occasions while traveling on La. 318. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and observed the driver, later identified as Clay, quickly exit the vehicle. Detectives made contact with Clay and ordered him to stop. Clay reportedly refused to comply and aggressively pushed past detectives. Detectives then observed an object, suspected of being illegal drugs, inside Clay’s mouth. Detectives attempted to prevent him from swallowing the item but were unsuccessful. Clay reportedly then grabbed a detective and attempted to push him to the ground. As detectives worked to detain the suspect, Clay reportedly struck a detective in the face and fled. The detective later received medical treatment for the injury. Detectives pursued the suspect on foot to a nearby residence and located Clay hiding beneath the house. Clay was taken into custody. Continuing the investigation, detectives reportedly located marijuana, a grinder, and several Legend Drug pills for which Clay did not have a prescription. Detectives also located an active warrant for his arrest. While being transported to an area hospital, Clay repeatedly slammed his head against the police unit causing damage to a window. No bail is set.
