Police: Teen attacked juvenile during festival

A Morgan City teen was booked Thursday on a battery charge after he allegedly attacked a juvenile during the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Brennan W. Cubbedge, 17, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:22 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with simple battery.
Cubbedge was arrested at his home on a warrant that stems from an incident in September in which Cubbedge allegedly committed a battery on a male juvenile in the area of the fair grounds of the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival, Blair said. Cubbedge was booked and later released on bail.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Micah Soileau, 18, of Joey Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:11 p.m. Thursday on the charges of resisting an officer and two counts of direct contempt of court.
Soileau, while in the City Court of Morgan City, disrupted court proceedings and became combative with the City Marshal, Blair said. Soileau was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail and was additionally charged.
—Cynthia A. Duval, 49, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:04 p.m. Thursday on a warrant on the charge of possession of Schedule I marijuana.
Duval turned herself in on an active warrant she held for the Morgan City Police Department. Duval was booked and later released on bail.
—Jarred D. Hope, 25, of New Iberia, was arrested at 7:59 p.m. Thursday on the charges of headlights required, resisting an officer, driving under suspension and on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear for trial.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 near Myrtle Street observed a vehicle without its headlights on. The vehicle was stopped to investigate. As the officer approached the driver, identified as Hope, he began to flee, Blair said. Hope was apprehended a short time later and was jailed.
—Gary D. Moore, 26, of Porter, Oklahoma, was arrested at 8:10 p.m. Thursday on the charges of driving while intoxicated and careless operation with an accident.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Fifth Street and Brashear Avenue in regard to a two-vehicle crash. When officers arrived, they spoke to one of the drivers, Moore.
According to reports, Moore stated that he was headed east in the westbound lane of Brashear Avenue, Blair said. While speaking to Moore, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, Blair said. At the Police Department, Moore registered 0.197 grams-percent blood alcohol content on a chemical test for intoxication. Moore was jailed.
—Traylon A. Grogan, 23, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:33 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with failure to pay probation fee and on the charge of remaining after being forbidden.
Grogan was located on Wren Street in Brownell Homes, part of Morgan City Housing Authority property. Grogan was determined to have an active warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court. Officers also learned that Grogan had been barred from all Housing Authority property, Blair said. Grogan was jailed.
—Jason D. Nix, 34, of Laurel, Mississippi, was arrested at 9:19 p.m. Thursday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to a home on Glenwood Street in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they were told that Nix was causing a disturbance and needed to leave the residence, Blair said. Officers made contact with Nix and could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, Blair said. Nix was jailed.
—Amanda R. Lake, 33, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:49 p.m. Thursday on the charges of appearing in public intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A patrol officer noticed a vehicle improperly parked in front of a closed business in the area of Second Street and Railroad Avenue. As the officer approached the vehicle, the officer noticed an individual sitting in the passenger seat.
The officer made contact with the passenger, Lake, and could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath, Blair said. While speaking to Lake, the officer observed a glass pipe, commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics, on the floor of the vehicle where Lake was seating, Blair said. Lake was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 51 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Peter Grogan Jr., 37, of the 300 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:14 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery, two warrants for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unauthorized use of an access card.
Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Morgan City and made contact with a passenger, Grogan, and located the active warrants for his arrest. No bail is set.
—Dontrey M. Triggs, 20, of the 200 block of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:51 p.m. Thursday on the charge of possession of marijuana.
—Trent A. Gray, 28, of the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 6:51 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for probation violation.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division patrolling the Patterson area observed a vehicle cross the center line of La. 182 and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Triggs, and a passenger, identified as Gray.
During the traffic stop investigation, detectives located two small bags of marijuana inside the vehicle belonging to Triggs. They also located an active arrest warrant for Gray. Triggs was released on a summons to appear in court on Nov. 9. Gray was jailed with bail set at $10,000.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
