Police: Two arrested on drug charges after Morgan City stop

A Thursday traffic stop in Morgan City led to two suspects being arrested on drug charges after police found methamphetamine, over $1,700 in cash and drug paraphernalia in a vehicle, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Neil J. Dupre, 38, of 11th Street in Donaldsonville, was arrested at 11:27 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws-drug free zone and transactions involving drug proceeds.
—Tysie M. Dabney, 37, of La. 1 in Belle Rose, was arrested at 11:27 p.m. Thursday on the charges of improper turning, driving under suspension, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws-drug free zone and transactions involving drug proceeds.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle make an improper turn at the intersection of Acorn and Leona streets and stopped the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle identified as Dabney, the driver, and Dupre, passenger.
Dabney had a suspended driver’s license. During the traffic investigation, Dupre’s and Dabney’s behavior made officers suspicious that they may be involved in illegal drug activity.
The officer searched the vehicle and located suspected methamphetamine, which was believed to be packaged for distribution, suspected drug paraphernalia and over $1,700 in cash believed to have been obtained from the sales of illegal drugs.
The location of the incident was within the area of a drug free zone in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Both Dupre and Dabney were jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Chaz M. Rebardi, 22, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 3:08 p.m. Thursday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of hit and run, no insurance and disturbing the peace.
Rebardi was arrested in the Morgan City Court on several warrants. Rebardi was jailed.
—Carlven Chapman, 40, of Louisiana Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:18 p.m. Thursday on the charges of introduction of contraband into a penal institute and possession of Xanax.
Chapman, who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City jail, was booked in on additional charges. During a routine cell search, correctional officers located suspected Xanax on Chapman, who remains incarcerated.
—Gregory W. Ballance, 18, of Bernice Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana and warrants charging him with contempt of court and probation violation.
Officers located Balance on Spruce Street near Sixth Street where he was arrested on several city court warrants. Ballance was jailed.
—Sydney Holder, 19, of Arenz Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:21 a.m. Friday on the charge of misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Officers responded to a home on Maple Street in regard to a call of a man having sexual intercourse with a female juvenile.
As officers arrived, a man, later identified as Holder, was observed running from the home. Responding officers searched the area and located Holder moments later and detained him for further investigation.
According to police, the complainant had returned home when they found Holder having sex with a 16-year-old girl. Officers found evidence of the alleged incident. Holder was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 49 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Camille Landry, 65, of Ricohoc Drive in Ricohoc, was arrested at 6:02 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Kathy Landry, 59, of Ricohoc Drive in Ricohoc, was arrested on February 23, 2017 at 6:02 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics section went to an address in the 200 block of Ricohoc Drive to investigate possible illegal drug activity at the home.
Detectives spoke with the occupants, Camille Landry and Kathy Landry, who allegedly admitted to possessing and smoking marijuana. Detectives located the marijuana, a grinder, rolling papers and other drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were released on summonses to appear in court May 10.
—Anson T. Paul, 39, of Liner Street in Franklin, was arrested at 1:48 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with theft of goods.
A detective investigating an August 2016 report of shoplifting from a store in Bayou Vista identified Paul as a suspect who attempted to leave the store with a stolen DVD player. A warrant was issued for Paul’s arrest. He turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Paul was released on $2,500 bail.
—Chase Martin, 21, of La. 182 in Patterson, was arrested at 9:25 p.m. Thursday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
A deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in Patterson. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Martin pushed another man to the floor. Martin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Jose Perez, 28, of Sebby’s Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:54 a.m. Thursday on the charges of improper lane usage and no driver’s license. Perez posted $250 bail.
—Sydnie Wainwright, 20, of New Horizon Mobile Home Park in New Iberia, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. No bail is set yet.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
