Police: Two people caught with cocaine in Bayou Vista

Two men were jailed on drug charges Thursday after narcotics detectives saw crack cocaine rocks in one of the suspects’ hands while in a vehicle parked in Bayou Vista, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Mark A. Hilliard, 31, of the 1200 block of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:01 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine, possession Schedule I drugs second offense, possession of marijuana second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant for Patterson Police Department charging him with sexual battery and theft
—Herman Delco, 32, of the 100 block of Odile Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 11:01 p.m. Thursday on the charge of possession of crack cocaine.
Narcotics detectives observed Hilliard sitting in a vehicle parked at the Bayou Vista Truck Stop on La. 182. Detectives were aware of the active warrants for Hilliard’s arrest, Hebert said.
Detectives made contact with Hilliard and another occupant in the vehicle, identified as Delco.
Detectives observed a cellophane bag containing rocks of crack cocaine in Delco’s hand, Hebert said.
During the arrests, Hilliard was also found to be in possession of bags of cocaine and items of drug paraphernalia. Both were jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 146 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Dana Butler, 46, of Patterson, was additionally charged on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of direct contempt, failure to use seatbelts, and failure to honor written promise to appear at 8:44 p.m. Thursday.
Butler was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set.
—Christina L. Pitre, 36, of the 100 block of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family and two warrants for probation violation.
A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area located Pitre sitting outside of a residence on Cane Road. No bail is set.
—Keith J. Johnson, 48, of the 1300 block of Third Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:49 p.m. Friday on the charges of driving while intoxicated second offense and possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles.
A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area responded to multiple complaints of a reckless driver on U.S. 90.
The deputy located the suspect vehicle in a ditch, Hebert said.
The deputy initiated contact with the driver, identified as Johnson, who was sleeping at the wheel with the vehicle still in drive.
The deputy observed that Johnson exhibited multiple signs of intoxication including an inability to maintain balance.
Johnson later registered 0.225 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test, Hebert said.
A cup containing an alcoholic beverage was also located inside the vehicle, the sheriff said. Johnson was jailed and released on $10,000 bail.
—Jami Bond, 29, of the 7200 block of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested Sunday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, failure to use seatbelts, and failure to honor written promise to appear.
A deputy located Bond at her residence on the warrants. Bail is set at $100,100.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Donovan Mabile, 31, of Pierre Part, was arrested at 4:37 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unsecured load. Mabile posted $400 bail.
—Natasha Brinlee, 37, of Russo Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:07 p.m. Saturday on the charge of simple battery. Brinlee posted $300 bail.
—Oleida Schexnayder, 50, of Russo Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:07 p.m. Saturday on the charge of simple battery. Mabile posted $300 bail.
—Cade Neill, 20, of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Sunday on the charges of general speed law and flight from an officer. Neill posted $1,250 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Christopher Soto, 26, of the 15100 block of La. 44 in Gonzales, was arrested at 6:33 p.m. Saturday on the charges of general speed law and possession of second offense.
Soto was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Wilson Jackson, 33, of the 400 block of Catherine Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Saturday on the charges of improper lane usage, no driver’s license and driving while intoxicated first offense. Jackson was jailed with no bail set.
