Police: Woman booked on drug charges

A 20-year-old Morgan City woman was booked into city jail Wednesday on the charges of violating controlled dangerous substance law and marijuana possession, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Payton Bailey, 20, of Two Brothers Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:42 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging her with possession of marijuana second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law.
Officers located Bailey in the area of Myrtle Street. Bailey had an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. Bailey was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Caleb M. Landry Jr., 17, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
—Alex M. Dunlap, 18, of Diane Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
Officers were dispatched to Morgan City High School in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, school officials stated that two students, Landry and Dunlap had been fighting. Both Landry and Dunlap were jailed.
—Michael P. Crouch, 29, of Marcel Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for failure to pay fine on the charge of resisting an officer and on the charge of contempt of court.
Crouch turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Crouch was jailed.
—Taquasha Johnson, 20, of Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, was arrested at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
—Skiler Chauvin, 18, of Sleepy Hollow Court in Schriever, was arrested at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
Officers were dispatched to a local hotel on La. 182 in regard to individuals fighting in the parking lot. Officers located Johnson and Chauvin. Both Johnson and Chauvin admitted to fighting, Blair said. They were jailed.
—Alvontray B. Louis, 19, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of no driver’s license.
Officers located Louis in the area of Federal and Brashear avenues. Louis held an active warrant for the 6th Ward City Court. Louis was jailed.
—Veronica Alexander, 29, of Jeanerette, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging her with probation violation, failure to appear to pay a probation fee, failure to appear to pay fines on the charge of drug paraphernalia.
Alexander was transported from the Iberia Parish Jail to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants she held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Alexander was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 57 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Jenny Landry, 58, of the 500 block of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:22 a.m. today on the charge of expired driver’s license. A deputy traveling on U.S. 90 in the Morgan City area observed a vehicle cross the centerline and conducted a traffic stop.
The deputy spoke with the driver, Landry, who stated that her driver’s license was expired. The deputy verified the information. Following the traffic stop, Landry was released on a summons to appear in court May 27.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
