Police: Woman hit man with cellphone

A 36-year-old Morgan City woman was charged with aggravated battery Monday after allegedly admitting to hitting a man with his cell phone and damaging his belongings, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Jennifer A. Clark, 36, of Chennault Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:35 p.m. Monday on the charges of simple criminal damage to property and domestic aggravated battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Chennault Street in regard to a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, the victim stated that he and his girlfriend, Clark, had gotten into a verbal altercation.
During the altercation, Clark grabbed the victim’s cell phone and struck him with it. The victim also said that Clark damaged some of his belongings. Officers located Clark in the home. According to reports, Clark admitted to officers that she struck the victim with the cell phone and damaged his belongings, Blair said. Clark was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Christopher J. Fazzio, 25, of Houma, was arrested at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of speeding 28 mph in a 15 mph school zone, expired driver’s license, possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule II oxycodone.
A patrol officer in the area of Sixth and Marguerite streets observed a vehicle speeding in a school zone, Blair said.
A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver, Fazzio, had an expired driver’s license, Blair said.
During the investigation, Fazzio gave the officer consent to search his vehicle where officers located suspected marijuana, a pill identified as oxycodone and items used to smoke illegal narcotics. Fazzio was jailed.
—Sidney Brown, 56, of Birch Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:15 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine.
Brown turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Brown was jailed.
—Terrilyn Short, 39, of Berwick, was arrested at 3:14 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging her with two counts of principal to theft of goods.
The warrant stems from an August incident in which Short is alleged to have assisted in a theft that occurred at a business on La. 182 in Morgan City. Short was jailed.
—James Jones, 30, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:24 p.m. Monday on warrants charging him with probation violation and simple battery.
Jones was located in the area of Veterans Boulevard and was determined to have an active warrant for 6th Ward City Court. Jones was jailed.
—Carlos A. Alas, 29, of Egle Mill Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:52 a.m. today on the charges of two headlights required and driver must be licensed.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 and East Boulevard observed a vehicle with improper lighting.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Alas, didn’t have a driver’s license, Blair said. Alas was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 45 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Eric L. Curtis, 27, of the 1500 block of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:50 a.m. Monday on the charge of criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and disturbing the peace intoxicated.
A deputy responded to a report of a man lying in the front yard of a residence on Mars Road in Bayou Vista.
The deputy made contact with the subject, identified as Curtis, and smelled an alcoholic beverage on his person.
During the investigation, the deputy learned that Curtis, who had been drinking the night before, broke a mailbox when he tripped while walking, Hebert said.
Curtis was jailed and later released on a summons to appear in court Dec. 7.
—Waynisha Jones Navy, 30, of the 200 block of Verdun Lane in Centerville, was arrested at 12:07 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal damage to property.
A deputy developed information regarding the whereabouts of Navy who was wanted on an active warrant.
The deputy located her at a business off of U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
