Search warrant at Bayou Vista home leads to drug arrests

A Bayou Vista man and woman were charged with intending to distribute Xanax, Valium and marijuana after narcotics detectives executed a search warrant Wednesday at a Southeast Boulevard home, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Michael McKinnon, 23, of the 100 block of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute, possession of Valium with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone), obstruction of justice and transactions involving drug proceeds.
—Emilie K. Businelle, 23, of the 300 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute, possession of Valium with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone).
Sheriff’s office narcotics division detectives, with assistance from the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division, conducted a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista.
Detectives located McKinnon in the home. When McKinnon saw the detectives, he attempted to discard a bag of marijuana, Hebert said. During the search of the home, detectives located marijuana, Valium, Xanax, cocaine, pipes, scales, and $697 in cash, Hebert said.
The apartment is located directly across from a park. Businelle, another resident of the apartment, was located at a Morgan City business. Both McKinnon and Businelle were jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 37 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Jermaine Carmouche, 37, of the 1200 block of Fifth Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:29 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal damage to property and simple battery. A deputy made contact with Carmouche at a location on Roderick Street in Morgan City on the warrant. Carmouche was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 15.
—Devin P. Guillot, 30, of the 500 block of Bayou Drive in Pierre Part, was arrested at 5:06 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista.
The deputy learned from store personnel that Guillot attempted to leave the store without paying for several items concealed on his person. Guillot was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later released on $1,000 bail.
—Dave Sole, 47, of the 4800 block of Grand Caillou Road in Houma, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of hit and run driving.
A deputy investigating a report of a hit and run crash that occurred in the parking lot of a business in Amelia collected evidence that a driver, identified as Sole, struck another vehicle and then left the scene. Sole was booked into parish jail and released on $1,000 bail.
—Dennis Norwood, 35, of the 500 block of Wheelis Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:17 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with disturbing the peace. While responding to a separate complaint on Wheelis Lane, a deputy made contact with Norwood and located the active warrant for his arrest.
The warrant was issued following an investigation into a complaint of a disturbance. The deputy collected evidence that Norwood went to a home in Bayou Vista and began yelling outside of the home. Norwood was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 15.
—James Guerin Jr., 38, of the 5300 block of La. 182 West in Patterson, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. today on two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrants for Guerin’s arrest. Bail on the charges is set at $56,300.41.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Tina M. Ordoyne, 37, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with contempt of court.
Ordoyne was arrested in the Morgan City Court in regard to an active warrant. Ordoyne was jailed.
—Jasper Minor, 23, of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:49 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace by use of loud and offensive language.
Minor entered the Morgan City Police Department jail lobby and began shouting at officers inside the facility, Blair said. Officers told Minor to calm down, but he ignored the officers’ warnings and continued shouting using offensive language toward officers, Blair said.
Police told Minor to leave the jail lobby, but he refused to do so and continued shouting at officers. Minor was jailed.
—Corey J. Guyon, 34, of South Bay Road in Pierre Part, was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of no driver’s license and on a warrant for probation violation.
Guyon was transported from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail to the Morgan City Police Department on arrest warrants. Guyon was booked into the Morgan City jail.
—Sean L. Finister, 28, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:56 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of domestic abuse-child endangerment.
Officers responded to an address on Federal Avenue in regard to a call of a domestic disturbance. Police arrived and located two adults along with three children ages 7, 5 and 2 inside the home, Blair said.
The officers spoke with the two adults, one later identified as the victim of a battery and the other identified as Finister. The victim, who had signs of a battery, told officers that the victim and Finister were involved in an argument when Finister committed a battery on the victim, Blair said.
During an investigation, officers found evidence of the battery and that the incident occurred in the presence of the three children. Finister was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Johnny Freeman, 64, of St. Joseph Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 3:02 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of driving under suspension. Freeman was released on bail set at $1,000.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Frankie Pilote Jr., 24, of the 300 block of Ellis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of simple battery with medical attention, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, resisting an officer by flight, and St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrants.
Pilote was transferred to Centerville Jail. No bail is set at this time.
