Second suspect arrested in Calumet burglary

A 20-year-old Berwick man charged Monday for the burglary of a Calumet business is the second arrest in the incident, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Quincy Johnson, 20, of the 2600 block of Fifth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:06 a.m. Monday for simple burglary of a business and resisting an officer.
Continuing the investigation into the burglary of a business in Calumet, a detective developed information identifying Johnson as a suspect in the crime, Hebert said. While speaking with the detective, Johnson admitted his involvement in the burglary and was subsequently taken into custody, Hebert said.
While being escorted from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City, Johnson attempted to flee from deputies, the sheriff said. He was quickly apprehended and was jailed with no bail set.
Chance Boudreaux, 20, of the 400 block of Railroad Avenue in Patterson, was arrested Saturday for simple burglary of a business in connection with the case.
At 7:50 a.m. Thursday, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to a report of a business burglary at Vilas & Associates on Cargill Road in the Calumet area. The investigation revealed that at about 11 p.m. Wednesday night two people accessed the property by boat, broke into a window on the waterside of the facility, and stole a commercial diving helmet along with about $200 in cash, Hebert said. The two people were captured on video surveillance.
Hebert reported responding to 33 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Miranda Vining, 31, of the 205 block of Onstead Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:33 p.m. Friday on a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. Vining turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. She was released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 10.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrest:
—Tanisha Clark, 32, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear to a pay fine for speeding, no driver’s license and no insurance.
Police were dispatched to the area of Lawrence Park in regards to telephone harassment. Officers came into contact with Clark. Clark was wanted for failure to appear in City Court Aug. 24 to pay fines. Clark was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
