Second suspect charged in Bayou Vista fight

A Thibodaux woman is the second suspect arrested in an investigation into a Jan. 20 fight in Bayou Vista during which one woman suffered a broken nose, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Nicole Tabor, 29, of Winder Road East in Thibodaux, was booked at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with simple battery.
During the investigation into a Jan. 20 disturbance on Carol Road in Bayou Vista, detectives collected evidence that a second suspect, identified as Tabor, went to the home and engaged in a fight with a woman. Detectives obtained a warrant for her arrest on the charge of simple battery.
Detectives located Tabor Monday in Terrebonne Parish, and she was arrested by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office on the warrant from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Tabor was transported to the Terrebonne Parish jail pending transfer to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail is set at $2,500. The investigation is ongoing.
The first suspect arrested in the case, John Buck Jr., 30, of Ricohoc, turned himself in Monday to St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives in Terrebonne Parish on the charges of second-degree battery, home invasion, simple battery and disturbing the peace.
At 7:21 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in the 300 block of Carol Road in Bayou Vista. Deputies first on scene learned that Buck and a woman were involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation.
Another person at the home shot Buck with a .22-caliber gun. Buck then fled the home on foot. Deputies along with the K-9 Unit and detectives tracked the suspect through the yards of several homes in the area, the release said.
Buck allegedly committed batteries against two women during the altercation. One of the victims was treated at Teche Regional Medical Center after suffering a broken nose and possible bruised ribs, Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Detective Lt. Traci Landry said.
No charges have been filed against the person who shot Buck, Landry said.
Hebert reported responding to 44 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Kayla Davis, 27, of Moon Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Davis contacted the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office stating that she wanted to turn herself in on an active warrant. Davis turned herself in to a deputy in the parking lot of a business in Bayou Vista. Davis was jailed with bail set at $1,500.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Sir Charles Evans, 38, of Oak Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:33 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace by using offensive language.
Officers responded to a home on Railroad Avenue in regard to a disturbance. Evans had allegedly come to the home yelling and using profanities. Officers located Evans and transported him to jail.
—Dwight J. Caton Jr., 35, of Union Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to pay probation fees and a warrant for failure to pay fines on the charge of possession of marijuana.
Officers located Caton in the area of Third and Union streets. Caton was determined to have warrants for the 6th Ward City Court. Caton was jailed.
—Anthony Watson, 42, of Victor II Boulevard in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:14 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of DWI second offense and driving on roadway lane for traffic.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 near Cottonwood Street observed a vehicle swerve and cross the center line. The vehicle also was observed hitting a curb, while turning onto Cottonwood Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Watson.
While speaking to Watson, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Watson was asked to perform the standard field sobriety test and performed poorly. Watson was transported to the police department and refused to submit to a chemical test for intoxication. Watson was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Michael Sweetser Jr., 34, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of driving under suspension and license plate light required.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
