Sheriff: 12-year-old boy punched his teacher

A 12-year-old Patterson boy was charged with battery of a school teacher Thursday after he punched the teacher, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—A juvenile male, 12, of Patterson, was arrested at 1:10 p.m. Thursday for battery of a school teacher. A school resource officer assigned to the St. Mary Parish Alternative Program responded to a complaint of a student punching a teacher. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the juvenile struck a teacher knocking the man to the floor, Hebert said. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Hebert reported responding to 44 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests:
—Connie Savoy, 56, of the 1200 block of Irish Bend Road in Franklin, at 12:51 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for aggravated second degree battery, hit and run driving, and failure to report an accident. A deputy located Savoy at her residence on the warrant.
The warrant was obtained following an investigation into a hit and run that occurred at a residence on Irish Bend Road March 20. Based on evidence found at the location, the deputy assigned to the case determined that Savoy struck a man with the vehicle she was driving, Hebert said. The victim sustained lacerations to his arm, the sheriff said. Savoy then left the scene of the crash, Hebert said. No bail is set.
—Darrell Wilson, 56, of the 1200 block of Irish Bend Road in Franklin, at 12:51 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of theft of goods and misrepresentation during booking. A deputy located Wilson at his residence on the warrant. Bail is set at $2,000.
—Two juvenile females, ages 11 and 15, both of Jeanerette, at 5:07 p.m. Thursday on the charge of simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance in the Jeanerette area. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the juveniles committed a battery upon a female juvenile victim, Hebert said. The victim sustained a black eye, the sheriff said. Following the arrest, both juveniles were released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Duke Guidroz, 29, of the 1100 block of Rene O’Guidry Road in Breaux Bridge, at 2:15 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of Schedule I drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. Guidroz was turned in by a bondsman at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. During booking, a jailer located the active warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
