Sheriff: Disturbance at business leads to drug arrest

A 37-year-old Patterson man was booked on several drug charges after he got angry at a woman and pulled large amounts of clothes off shelves at a store, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Adam Miller, 37, of La. 182 West in Patterson, was arrested at 5:39 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of disturbing the peace, possession of methamphetamine, possession of hydrocodone and possession of alprazolam.
Deputies assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area responded to a report of a disturbance at a business. Deputies learned that Miller became upset with a female companion and then directed his anger towards the store’s management.
Miller began to pull down large amounts of clothing off the shelves, placed them on the ground, and was using loud offensive language. Deputies located methamphetamine, hydrocodone pills and alprazolam pills on Miller. Miller was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Malcomb Williams, 17, of Broussard Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for charges of criminal trespass and criminal damage to property over $10,000. Williams turned himself in to the St. Mary Parish Warrants Section in Franklin.
The warrant stems from a May 16 investigation. During that investigation, investigators learned that Williams and several other people were trespassing on private property on Zenor Road and were responsible for damaging a fence. Williams was booked into parish jail and later released.
—Raven Burise, 25, of Park Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy assigned to the St. Mary Parish Warrants Section located Burise at the courthouse in Franklin.
The check was issued to a business in Bayou Vista for the amount of $23.40. Burise was released on a summons to appear in court Nov. 21.
—James Drew, 44, of Sixth Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:19 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of improper lane usage, suspended driver’s license, possession of a legend drug and a warrant for failing to appear to court on the charge of driving with a suspended license.
A detective assigned to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office “K-9 Section” conducted a traffic stop after observing the driver of a vehicle cross the fog line on U.S. 90 East in Patterson. The K-9 detective made contact with the driver, Drew, and learned that he had a suspended driver’s license and a warrant for his arrest.
Simultaneously, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives conducted a search warrant at Drew’s home. The warrant stems from an investigation involving illegal drug activity. The search yielded several legend drugs, and Drew was unable to produce any prescriptions for any of the drugs. Drew was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—David Elliot Jr., 39, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of improper lane usage and driving under suspension.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on La. 182 near Myrtle Street traveling out of its lane of travel. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Elliot, who had a suspended driver’s license. Elliot was jailed.
—Somoa K. Scott Jr., 20, of Hilda Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana, failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear on the charge of illegal use of a dangerous weapon, failure to appear on the charge of aggravated assault with a firearm and failure to appear on the charge of illegal possession of a firearm in a firearm-free zone.
Officers located Scott at a home on Hilda Street where he was arrested on several warrants for 16th Judicial District Court. Scott was jailed.
—Zachary Richard, 25, of W. Madison Lane in Broussard, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft.
Richard was surrendered to the Morgan City Police Department by a bail bond service on a 6th Ward City Court warrant. Richard was jailed.
—Ralph Harcum, 55, of Birch Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:18 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace, failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace, and probation violation.
Officers located Harcum on Railroad Avenue near Second Street where he was arrested on several 6th Ward City Court warrants. Harcum was jailed.
—Markita L. Turner, 26, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, resisting an officer, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws, disturbing the peace, and warrants for failure to appear on the charge of hit and run, and failure to appear on the charge of no driver’s license.
Officers responded to a home on Terrebonne Street in regard to a reported disturbance. Police arrived and located Turner, who was identified as one of the people involved in the disturbance. Police determined that Turner gave officers a false name to hide her true identity, attempted to flee from officers. She was caught a short time later and continued to resist officers.
Police discovered Turner’s true identity and arrested her on 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrants. Officers also located suspected marijuana in view. The location of the incident was within the area of a local school in violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws. Turner was jailed.
—Connie Haynes, 48, of Jeddo Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:13 a.m. today on the charges of improper lane usage and DWI.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on La. 182 traveling out of its lane of travel and stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Haynes, who police suspected was intoxicated. Haynes submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000 chemical test for intoxication, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.164 grams-percent. Haynes was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Caleb Landry, 17, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Landry was jailed on $1,000 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
