Sheriff: Man intended to distribute ecstasy pills

A 44-year-old Amelia man was charged with intending to distribute ecstasy pills after narcotics detectives stopped a vehicle in Morgan City, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Nathaniel Hawkins Sr., 44, of the 300 block of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Monday for failure to properly signal a turn and possession with intent to distribute MDMA (ecstasy).
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics division detectives traveling on La. 182 in Morgan City observed a vehicle turn into a business parking lot without properly signaling and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives made contact with the driver, Hawkins.
While talking to Hawkins, detectives observed him retrieve a cellophane baggie containing suspected illegal drugs from between the seat and center console and place it in his pocket. Detectives recovered the bag and found that it contained several individual bags of MDMA pills. Hawkins was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 28 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Rhonda Lodrigue, 39, of Two Sister’s Court in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:50 p.m. Monday on the charges of theft, forgery and monetary instrument abuse. A deputy investigating a com-plaint of a theft found evidence that Lodrigue stole two checks from a relative and forged them to purchase items and receive cash back at a store in Berwick. Lodrigue was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Caston Malveaux, 59, of the 500 block of Signe Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:07 a.m. Monday on the charges of careless operation of a motor vehicle with a crash and no insurance.
A deputy was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 90 near Universe Road in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with both of the drivers, including Malveaux. The deputy collected statements that Malveaux pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Malveaux was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. No other injuries were reported. Malveaux was released on a summons to appear in court May 4.
—Demetrius Green, 27, of the 600 block of Shannon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:18 p.m. Monday on the charge of domestic abuse battery. Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in progress at a business on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area. During the investigation, deputies gathered evidence that Green struck a female victim during an argument. Green was booked into jail and released on $1,000 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Arnold R. Guerro-Carranza, 20, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:32 p.m. Monday on the charges of improper tail lighting and no driver’s license.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle traveling on U.S. 90 with improper tail lighting and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Guerro-Carranza, did not have a valid driver’s license. He was jailed.
—Devin Matthew Parvino, 27, of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:19 p.m. Monday on a warrant for probation violation. Parvino was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Parvino was jailed.
—Kentrell J. Jones, 28, of Thibodaux, was arrested at 2:25 a.m. today on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of improper window tint and for contempt of court.
Jones was located by officers in the area of Brashear Avenue near Federal Avenue where he was arrested on active arrest warrants held by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. Jones was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Randy Lillie Jr., 22, of Darby Lane in New Iberia, was arrested at 1:02 p.m. Monday on an Iberia Parish warrant charging him with simple burglary. Lillie was transferred to Iberia Parish with no bail set.
—Casey Gilley, 33, of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. Monday on the charges of license plate light required and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gilley posted $1,750 bail.
