Sheriff: Man tried to sell stolen 4-wheeler

A 28-year-old Ricohoc man was caught Wednesday after sheriff’s deputies learned that he tried to sell a four-wheeler reported stolen in November, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Stephen Boyd Jr., 28, of Ratcliff Lane in Ricohoc, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of illegal possession of stolen things and criminal trespass.
On Nov. 26, 2016, deputies began an investigation into a report of a stolen four-wheeler from a home in Ricohoc. After receiving information about the stolen ATV’s whereabouts, a detective developed Boyd as a suspect. Deputies located Boyd walking on U.S. 90 in Ricohoc and subsequently located the stolen four-wheeler in a sugarcane field off La. 182 in the Centerville area.
Deputies found evidence that Boyd rode the ATV on the private property and that he had attempted to sell it. Boyd was jailed with no bail set. The ATV was returned to the owner.
Hebert reported responding to 40 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Eddie L. Brown IV, 43, of Joseph Street in Siracusa, was arrested at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of distribution of cocaine.
While patrolling Amelia, a deputy received information that Brown was at his home and located him there on the warrants. Brown was jailed with no bail set.
—Melvin Thibodeaux, 47, of James Street in Siracusa, was arrested at 10:44 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of cocaine. A deputy located Thibodeaux at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. Thibodeaux was jailed with no bail set.
—April L. Aucoin, 36, of Cremo Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear for a drug court status conference. A correctional officer transported Aucoin from the Assumption Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Bail is set at $100,000.
—Michael Wilkerson, 25, of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:01 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace. A deputy encountered Wilkerson during a traffic stop on Mars Road and located the active warrant for his arrest. Wilkerson was jailed with bail set at $500.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Trent A. Giroir, 19, of Morringsport, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana, driving under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia and no turn signal.
Giroir was transported from the Assumption Parish Jail to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Adams was jailed.
—Linda M. Fontenot, 29, of Lafayette, was arrested at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers responded to a hotel on La. 182 in regard to an individual in the lobby causing a disturbance. Officers arrived and located Fontenot. Officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath.
While speaking to officers, Fontenot became loud and using profanities. Fontenot was told to calm down several times, but refused. Fontenot was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Precious Declouet Danos, 43, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:44 a.m. Thursday on the charge of disturbing the peace-language. Danos was released on $327 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
