Sheriff: No bomb found at Amelia Belle after report of possible threat

Amelia Belle Casino was evacuated for about 15 minutes Friday afternoon after the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible bomb threat. However, deputies determined no threat existed, and people were allowed to go back to the casino, Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Traci Landry said.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received a call at 12:18 p.m. Friday reporting something they thought was suspicious at Amelia Belle Casino, Landry said. The casino was evacuated and sheriff's deputies were working in conjunction with the captain of the riverboat casino, Landry said.
The casino was evacuated for about 15 minutes while heriff's deputies searched the vessel to see if a threat actually existed, Landry said.No bomb was discovered, she said. Visitors were allowed to return to the casino after detectives determined there was no bomb, Landry said.
The case is still under investigation, Landry said.
