Sheriff: Stalled vehicle leads to five drug arrests

Five people were arrested Monday in Bayou Vista after narcotics detectives found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside a stalled vehicle, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Trent Duhon, 22, of Ricohoc Drive in Ricohoc, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, on a warrant charging him with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, criminal damage to property, simple battery and telephone harassment and three warrants for failure to appear for a drug court status conference and failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court.
—Erika Verret, 20, of David Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Xanax.
—Jayde Adams, 19, of Kelli Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Eternity Bass, 19, of Lincoln Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Brennan Giandelone, 19, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics section detectives were patrolling Bayou Vista when they observed a stalled vehicle at the intersection of Jupiter Street and La. 182. Detectives made contact with five people and smelled the odor of burning marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The driver, Duhon, then fled on foot. Detectives apprehended him. During a search of the vehicle, detectives located six small bags of marijuana, a partially burnt marijuana cigar, and drug paraphernalia including a grinder, a digital scale and plastic baggies.
Detectives also located a Xanax pill in Verret’s purse. The illegal drugs were found within 2,000 feet of a church. Detectives also found that Duhon was wanted on warrants. Duhon, Verret, Adams, Bass, and Giandelone were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set for Duhon, Adams, Bass, or Giandelone. Verret was released on a personal surety bail.
Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Dicie Fulks, 32, of Cremo Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failure to yield and failure to signal 100 feet prior to an intersection.
While traveling on La. 182 in Amelia, a vehicle pulled out of a parking lot in front of the patrol unit without using a turn signal. The deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Fulks.
The deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her and performed a field sobriety test. Fulks conducted the test poorly and later registered 0.147 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration. Fulks was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $3,000.
—Miranda Topham, 35, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:13 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging her with domestic abuse battery-child endangerment law.
On Feb. 7, a deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in Bayou Vista. The deputy spoke with several subjects at the home and learned that Topham became angry and grabbed a female victim by the arm.
A warrant was issued for her arrest. A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista located Topham on Field Road and transported her to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail is set at $3,500.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Raven Pepperday, 19, of Two Sisters Court in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. Monday on the charges of improper lane usage and possession of marijuana. Pepperday posted $2,250 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
