Teacher accused of restraining male student, 9, while another student struck him

A 34-year-old teacher at the St Mary Parish Alternative Program school was arrested Friday after he was accused of retraining a 9-year-old student while directing another student to strike the victim, according to a St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office news release.
Randy Louis, 34, of the 100 block of Kerry Street in Baldwin, was arrested at 4:29 p.m. Friday on charges of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.
On April 17, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint of a possible battery involving a juvenile. During the investigation, detectives learned that Louis, a teacher at the St. Mary Parish Alternative Program school, restrained a 9-year-old male student while instructing another student to strike him, the release said. The sheriff's office issued a warrant for Louis on charges of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles for directing a student to strike another student and simple battery for restraining the juvenile victim, the release stated. Louis turned himself in to deputies Friday afternoon.
Louis was jailed with bail set at $1,500.
