Teens arrested jumping from Patterson bridge

Five teens were charged with violating a parish ordinance Thursday after they were seen jumping into the water from a bridge in Patterson, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
On Thursday, a deputy responded to a complaint of several people jumping from Zenor Bridge into the Lower Atchafalaya River in the Patterson area.
As the deputy approached the bridge, she saw a group of six people in swim suits and observed one person jump off the structure, Hebert said.
All suspects, including a 16-year-old male juvenile, were detained. Five of the suspects were arrested and charged with violating a parish ordinance prohibiting swimming from parish bridges and allowing a minor to swim from a parish bridge. The juvenile was released.
—Austin Thomassie, 17, of the 100 block of Riverview Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 3:03 p.m.
—Ryan Boudreaux, 19, of the 200 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:03 p.m.
—Amber Swanson, 17, of the 600 block of Teche Road in Bayou Vista was arrested at 3:30 p.m.
—Ethan Mensman, 17, of the 100 block of Riverview Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 3:30 p.m.
—Jared Lacompte, 17, of the 3000 block of Purvis to Columbia Road in Lumberton, Mississippi, was arrested at 3:50 p.m. All suspects were released on summonses to appear in court Sept. 16.
Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—David Brown, 43, of the 100 block of Todd Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 1:13 p.m. Thursday on a warrant from the Thibodaux police department for failure to appear on the charges of failure to give turn signals, driving under suspension, and two counts direct contempt. A deputy assigned to the warrants division located Brown at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin. Brown was transferred to the Thibodaux police department.
—Troy P. Carnley, 35, of the 500 block of Henry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:08 p.m. Thursday on the charge of hit and run driving. A deputy investigating a complaint of a hit and run crash that occurred on May 31 identified Carnley as the driver of a vehicle that struck another vehicle at the intersection of La. 182 and U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista, Hebert said. The deputy located Carnley at his residence and released him on a summons to appear in court Sept. 16.
—Charles Preece, 26, of the 1900 block of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 1:02 a.m. today on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana second offense and no insurance.
—Chace Ribardi, 23, of the 3100 block of First Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:02 a.m. today on the charge of possession of Schedule I marijuana second offense.
A deputy investigating a complaint of a suspicious vehicle on Anthony Street in Bayou Vista observed two people sleeping in a vehicle, Hebert said. The deputy identified the driver as Preece and the passenger as Ribardi. While speaking with them, the deputy observed a small bag containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana inside the vehicle, Hebert said. Both men were jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Dakota A. Daigle, 22, of Second Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2 p.m. Thursday on warrants charging him with failure to appear to pay a fine and with contempt of court.
Daigle was transported from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office to the Morgan City Police Department for outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Daigle was booked and incarcerated.
—Sade M. Singleton, 26, of Apple Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:46 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with theft less than $750.
Singleton was located in the area of Federal Avenue and Egle Street. The warrant stems from an investigation that began in April, in which Singleton was an employee of a business and allegedly collected cash transactions, but didn’t record on the register, Blair said. Singleton was jailed.
—Davey W. Gober, 57, of Morgan City, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Thursday on the charge of taking contraband into a penal institution.
Gober was transported to the Morgan City Police Department from the Morgan City Sixth Ward City Court to serve time for unrelated charges. Officers searched Gober and located a pill, identified as Tramadol, Blair said. Gober was booked on the additional charge.
—Shaddrick J. Neddie, 39, of James Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:46 p.m. Thursday on the charges of two headlights required and driving under suspension, and on a Harris County Sheriff’s Office warrant for probation violation.
A patrolling officer in the area of La. 182 near the Greenwood Overpass noticed a vehicle with improper lighting, Blair said. The officer conducted a traffic stop and determined that the driver, Neddie, was driving under suspension, Blair said. Also, a computer check showed that Neddie held an outstanding warrant from the Harris County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office. Neddie was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Glynn Guidry Jr., 34, of the 700 block of Carline Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:29 p.m. Thursday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated. Guidry was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
