Two arrested after sex offender compliance check

Two Morgan City were arrested Wednesday on sex offender charges by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Compliance Division, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Joshua C. Driskill, 22, of the 500 block of Barrow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
A detective with the Sex Offender Compliance Division obtained a warrant for Driskill, a sex offender who failed to comply with registration requirements, Hebert said.
The detective also learned of another warrant for Driskill issued after he failed to appear for a probation review hearing. The detective located Driskill at his residence, Hebert said. No bail is set.
—Joe K. Hathorn, 58, of the 900 block of Cherry Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to provide notification as a sex offender or child predator and on a warrant for failure to pay annual registration fee as a sex offender.
A detective with the Sex Offender Compliance Division obtained a warrant for Hathorn, a convicted sex offender who failed to complete registration requirements, Hebert said. The detective located Hathorn at the Cherry Street address. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 38 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Ryan J. Delahoussaye, 21, of the 200 block of Onstead Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear for a drug court status conference and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and abuse of toxic vapors.
After receiving information regarding Delahoussaye’s whereabouts, a deputy made contact with him at a location on River Road in Berwick on the warrants. Bail is set at $200,000.
—Jessica Rodriguez, 33, of the 1000 block of Canal Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:14 p.m. Wednesday on five warrants for failure to appear for a drug court status conference.
A deputy located Rodriguez at a location on Hunting Road in Ricohoc on the warrants. Bail is set at $500,000.
—John D. McNemar, 46, of the 1500 block of Bernice Street in Morgan City, was charged with hit and run driving at 10:14 p.m. Wednesday.
Deputies began an investigation into a report of hit and run driving that occurred in the Walmart parking lot in Bayou Vista at about 7:40 a.m. May 4, the sheriff said.
The driver of a pick-up truck is seen on video surveillance backing out of a parking space and striking another vehicle parked on the opposite row, Hebert said.
A picture of the driver was released to the public in an effort to identify the person and complete the investigation, the sheriff said.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received multiple tips from the community regarding the case. Deputies located McNemar at his residence and positively identified him as the driver.
McNemar fully cooperated with deputies during the investigation, Hebert said. He was released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 19.
—Troy Charpentier, 34, of the 2700 block of Lee Drive in Pierre Part, was arrested at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of improper lane usage, failure to signal, no insurance, driving under suspension, failure to carry proof of registration and expired license plate.
A deputy observed a vehicle changing lanes repeatedly without properly signaling any of the movements and conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area, Hebert said.
The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Charpentier, and learned that he was driving with a suspended license, among other offenses. The deputy released Charpentier on a summons to appear in court Aug. 19.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Ryan J. Bowman, 20, of Morgan City, was arrested at 3:13 a.m. today on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana and minor in possession of alcoholic beverage.
—Erika L. Ware, 21, of Francis Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 3:13 a.m. today on the charges of criminal trespassing, unlawful purchase of alcohol beverage for persons under 21, disturbing the peace intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana.
Officers were dispatched to Lake End Park in regard to someone causing a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they spoke to the complainant, who stated that a woman was knocking and yelling outside his camper door, Blair said.
Officers were able to locate Ware near the camper.
Ware appeared to be intoxicated and stated she and her friend were trying to find a place to hang out, Blair said.
Officers located Bowman in a vehicle parked next to the camper.
While speaking with Bowman, officers noticed an open can of alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle, Blair said. Bowman was determined to be under age 21, Blair said.
Bowman stated that the alcohol was his, but Ware had purchased it, Blair said. Officers also noticed suspected synthetic marijuana on the front seat of the vehicle, Blair said. Both Ware and Bowman was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Joseph Jenkins, 41, of Fortins Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:04 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of simple assault. Jenkins was released on $300 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
