Two arrested on drug charges after Bayou Vista home search

Two people were arrested Tuesday evening after the search of a Bayou Vista home yielded marijuana, drug paraphernalia and pills.
A 3-year-old child was also home at the time of the search, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jennifer Bond, 27, of Clark Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Ambien, possession of Meloxicam without prescription and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.
—Chuck Newsom, 30, of Clark Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.
Narcotics section detectives conducted a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of Clark Road in Bayou Vista. While executing the warrant, detectives made contact with Bond, Newsom and a 3-year-old child. Detectives located marijuana and several drug paraphernalia items at the home.
Bond was in possession of Ambien pills and Meloxicam pills without a valid prescription. Bond and Newsom were arrested and transported to the parish jail for booking. No bails have been set.
Hebert reported responding to 36 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Sandra Pike, 49, of Clark Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:23 a.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation at a home in the 300 block of Clark Road in Bayou Vista and made contact with Pike.
Detectives searched the home and found marijuana and paraphernalia. Pike was arrested and later released on a summons to appear to court May 10.
—Anthony Tardo Jr, 43, of Nichole Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with criminal trespass. Narcotics detectives located Tardo at his home and arrested him on the warrant. He was later released on a summons to appear to court May 10.
—Patrick Harris, 40, of Diamond Creek in Broussard, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday on warrants charging him with speeding and driving under suspension, and on a warrant charging him with criminal damage to property and disturbing the peace by fighting.
A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area located Harris at a business. The deputy arrested Harris and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Harris was later released after posting a $900 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Alexis M. Trahan, 23, of Bryant Street in Houma, was arrested at 4:46 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws-drug free zone.
Narcotics detectives conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Federal and Brashear avenues in regard to the vehicle having an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. Investigators located several people inside the vehicle, including the driver, Trahan and a small child. Trahan had a suspended driver’s license.
Trahan’s behavior made officers suspicious that she may be involved in illegal drug activity. A search of the vehicle was conducted when investigators located suspected marijuana, heroin and drug paraphernalia. The location of the incident was within the area of a drug free zone. Trahan was jailed.
—Devante Frank, 24, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:56 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with simple battery.
An officer located Frank on Federal Avenue where he was arrested on an active arrest warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation of an incident reported Jan. 23 on Dora Street of an alleged battery. Frank was jailed.
—Kentrell F. Diggs, 24, of Donaldsonville, was arrested at 1:58 p.m. Tuesday on warrants charging him with contempt of court and probation violation.
Diggs was transported from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office jail to the Morgan City Police Department on city court warrants. Diggs was jailed.
—Aketa R. Francis, 24, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:58 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of disturbing the peace by fighting, simple battery and simple battery and warrants charging her with contempt of court and probation violation.
Francis was transported from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail to the Morgan City Police Department on city court warrants. Francis was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
