Two injured in Siracusa crash

Two people were taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after one vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into another vehicle on La. 182 in Siracusa, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Detective Lt. Traci Landry said.

The sheriff office responded to a crash on La. 182 in Siracusa at 3:27 p.m. Thursday. One of the drivers of one of the vehicles sustained minor injuries and was taken to Teche Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash, Jaime Lagunes-Huesca, 58 was cited for driver's license, driving left of center and careless operation. He was also transported to the hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown, Landry said.

Lagunes-Huesca was traveling La. 182 in Siracusa and came up behind another vehicle that had slowed down in his lane, Landry said. He applied the brakes, and a preliminary investigation revealed that one of the brakes may have grabbed, causing his vehicle to cross the center line and crash into the other vehicle, she said.
