Authorities recovered a stolen vehicle Sunday from which three suspects allegedly carjacked a woman at gunpoint Saturday in Bayou Vista, according to a St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office news release. The three suspects have not yet been identified.
On Saturday, at 10:45 p.m., the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of an armed robbery that occurred in the 100 block of Mercury Road in Bayou Vista. Two suspects approached a female victim who was inside her car parked outside a residence, the release said. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim, the release said. The victim exited the vehicle, ran into the residence, and called 911. The two suspects drove away in the vehicle, but the victim was not injured, the release stated. Deputies issued a be-on-the-lookout for the vehicle. Video of the suspects was recovered from a nearby business, the news release said.
On Sunday, just prior to 9:30 p.m., a deputy observed a car matching the description of the stolen vehicle traveling on Main Street in Franklin and initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle pulled into a driveway on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Three suspects, including the driver, exited the car and fled on foot, the release stated.
