A 57-year-old Houma woman accused of stealing more than $633,000 from a Morgan City business was arrested Thursday, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
Donna Sue Peveto, 57, of Houma, was arrested at 11:25 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for seven counts of felony theft totaling $633,700, Banks said.
Assistant Chief Mark Griffin Jr. said police are not yet releasing the name of the business from which Peveto is accused of stealing money.
“It’s still under further investigation. There are possibly more arrests going to be made,” Griffin said. “Once we get everybody in custody, we’ll probably go ahead and release it then.”
On March 25, the Morgan City Police Detectives Division began an investigation into the misappropriation of funds from a local company. Detectives learned that Peveto had stolen about $633,700 in funds, Banks said in the news release.
Peveto was located at her residence in Houma and brought to the Morgan City Police Department. She was jailed on $150,000 bail and has since been released.
