Woman jailed for possession of drugs with children present

A 29-year-old Berwick woman was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a minor, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Hebert reported responding to 32 complaints in the parish:
—Natasha D. Bergeron, 29, of the 100 block of Tournament Boulevard in Berwick, was arrested at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of Schedule II crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule II tramadol, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone), possession of Legend Drug cyclobenzaprine without a prescription, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor and on a warrant for probation violation.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and officers with the Berwick Police Department conducted an investigation into possible illegal drug activity at a residence on Tournament Boulevard.
The investigation began after Berwick police received a complaint of a subject smoking marijuana at the apartment complex. Detectives and officers made contact with Bergeron and smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from her apartment. Detectives ad-vised Bergeron of the com-plaint and received consent to search the apartment, Hebert said.
During the search, detectives located a marijuana cigarette, several legend drug pills, several tramadol pills, a bag of crack cocaine and a handgun. There were three children present in the residence at the time of the investigation. The children, ages 5, 6, and 8, were released to the custody of a family member.
The home is also located less than 2,000 feet from a church. Detectives also located an active arrest warrant for Bergeron. Bergeron was jailed with no bail set.
—Anthony Beard, 39, of the 1500 block of Cross Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:32 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for criminal damage to property. The warrant was issued following an investigation into a complaint of criminal damage to a vehicle at a residence in Bayou Vista. The deputy gathered evidence that Beard cut two tires on the victim’s vehicle, Hebert said. Beard turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. He was later released on $500 bail.
—Glen Rochel Jr., 33, of the 500 block of Arcemont Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:28 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of simple assault and telephone harassment and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of criminal trespassing. A deputy working on Arcemont Lane made contact with Rochel and located the active warrants for his arrest. Rochel was jailed with no bail set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Shailon Favors, 22, of the 100 block of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with stalking. Favors was released on $1,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Jarvis Granger, 29, of Joseph Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:24 p.m. Monday on the charges of driving under suspension and speeding 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Granger was released on $1,250 bail.
—Denise Mason, 40, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 2:19 p.m. Saturday on the charge of theft by shoplifting.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—John Clark, 49, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:32 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for simple battery.
An officer went to an ad-dress on Fourth Street in an attempt to locate Clark in regard to an active arrest warrant held by Morgan City Police.
Clark was located at the residence, placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed.
—Dwight J. Caton Jr., of Mark Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday on charges of speeding, possession of marijuana, and driving under suspension.
An officer patrolling the area of La. 182 near Duke Street observed a vehicle speeding. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Caton.
During the stop, the officer observed suspected marijuana inside the vehicle as Caton retrieved the vehicle papers from the glove box. A driver’s license check revealed that Caton had a suspended license.
Caton was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed.
—Bianca F. Prince, 24, of Ninth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Wednesday on a charge for theft (over $750). An officer responded to a local business on La. 182 in regard to a report of a theft.
The officer spoke with the business manager who said one of the business employees had been taking money from a number of store deposits beginning in November 2015.
The total of monies taken from the deposits was estimated around $8,000.
The officer and management spoke with Prince who, according to reports, admitted taking the money. Prince was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and jailed.
—Natasha D. Bergeron, 29, of Tournament Boulevard in Berwick, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. today on charges for failure to appear to pay probation fee and probation violation.
Bergeron, currently incarcerated in the Morgan City Police Department Jail, was booked in on additional warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court.
—Leanna R. Gresco, 24, of La. 70 in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:59 a.m. today on the charges of improper lane usage and driving under suspension.
An officer patrolling the area of La. 70 observed a vehicle traveling out of the lane of travel several times. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Gresco.
A driver’s license check revealed that Gresco had a suspended license.
Gresco was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and jailed.
