Women booked on drug charges after Bayou Vista stop

Two women were booked into parish jail Friday on multiple drug charges after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives stopped a vehicle that initially failed to stop, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Stephanie M. Harvey, 37, of Cane Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:26 p.m. Friday on the charges of failure to properly signal a turn 100 feet prior to an intersection, flight from an officer, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and possession of Fentanyl.
—Kathryn A. Vines, 43, of Druilhet Street in Jeanerette, was arrested at 11:26 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and possession of Fentanyl.
Narcotics detectives patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle fail to properly signal a turn from Polaris Street to Middle Road. Detectives initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop. After traveling for several blocks, the driver pulled over in the parking lot of a business off of Jupiter Street, Hebert said.
Detectives detained both occupants of the vehicle pending further investigation. The driver was identified as Harvey and the passenger as Vines. While speaking with the subjects, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a bag of marijuana, plastic baggies, methamphetamine, a straw containing a small amount of methamphetamine, and a Fentanyl patch, Hebert said. Both Harvey and Vines were jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 101 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Emily V. Eues, 34, of Elaine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:58 p.m. Sunday on the charges of failure to signal 100 feet prior to an intersection, possession of marijuana and resisting an officer.
—Kayla Comeaux, 28, of Moffet Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:58 p.m. Sunday on the charges of possession of Tramadol, possession of Motrin without a prescription, and possession of Amoxil without a prescription.
A narcotics detective pa-trolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle fail to properly signal a turn onto Teche Road. The detective conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Eues, and passenger, Comeaux. While speaking with the subjects, the detective received consent to search the vehicle and located several pills that were prescribed to other subjects and a bag of marijuana, Hebert said.
During Eues’ arrest, she repeatedly pulled away from a deputy who was escorting her to a police unit. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. Eues’ bail is set at $3,250. No bail is set for Comeaux.
—Jacob Hanks, 27, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:05 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of illegal possession of stolen things. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located an active warrant for Hanks’ arrest. Hanks was released on $750 bail.
—Leo Thompson, 46, of Emy’s Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Friday on the charge of no motor vehicle insurance. A deputy was flagged down by a subject who stopped in a parking lot on La. 182 in Morgan City.
While speaking with the subject, identified as Thompson, the deputy discovered that he was operating the vehicle without insurance. Thompson was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 17.
—Dustin Guilbeau, 31, of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:59 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located an active warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
—Janet Melancon, 57, of Wilson Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Sunday on the charge of reckless operation of a vehicle.
—Hurbert T. Lovett, 52, of Wilson Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 9:39 p.m. Sunday on the charge of driving with a suspended license.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a reckless driver in the parking lot of Walmart in Bayou Vista. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Lovett drove the vehicle to the location and then went into the store while Melancon waited in the car in the parking lot.
The deputy also collected evidence that Melancon then drove the vehicle at a high rate of speed through the parking lot and struck a shopping cart, causing it to travel towards vehicles that were parked nearby. The deputy also found that Lovett was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Lovett was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 17. Melancon was booked into parish jail and later released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 17.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jahmarcus L. Paddio, 19, of Freret Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. Friday on warrants charging him with monetary instrument abuse and theft under $750.
Paddio was located on Freret Street and placed under arrest on the warrants, which stem from a June incident where Paddio allegedly used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase items from a local business, Hebert said. Paddio was jailed.
—David J. Belitz, 52, of Second Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:23 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace use of offensive language.
Officers responded to a home on Second Street in regard to a disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke to witnesses, who stated that Belitz had come on to their property using profanities, Blair said. Belitz was asked several times to refrain from using the profanities, but continued, Blair said. Belitz was jailed.
—Harry Irvin Jr., 49, of Garber Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:55 a.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer.
Officers located Irvin in the area of Sixth Street and Brashear Avenue. Officers located suspected cocaine on Irvin’s person. After locating the suspected cocaine, Irvin began to resist officers, but was subdued. A glass pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics was also located on Irvin, Blair said. Irvin was jailed.
—Frank M. Adams, 24, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:55 a.m. Saturday on the charge of possession of marijuana third offense.
—Danny P. Dupuy, 37, of Julia Street in Amelia, was arrested at 10:55 a.m. Saturday on the charge of possession of marijuana first offense.
Officers were dispatched to a motel on La. 182 in regard to a disturbance. While in route to the location, police learned that individuals causing the disturbance had left in a vehicle. Police located a vehicle fitting the description in the area of La. 182 and Myrtle Street.
The driver, Dupuy, was asked about the incident and stated he had gotten into a verbal altercation with an individual, Blair said. Dupuy made officers’ suspicious that he might be involved in illegal activity, Blair said.
The passenger of the vehicle, Adams, was asked to exit. Dupuy gave officers consent to search the vehicle. During the investigation, officers located suspected marijuana inside the vehicle, Blair said. Both Dupuy and Adams were jailed.
—Melissa Evans, 46, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 7:22 p.m. Saturday on the charges of DWI first offense and careless operation.
Officers were dispatched to Front Street in regard to a vehicle crash. Police spoke to the driver, Evans, who stated that she was traveling north on Front Street and crashed into a parked vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway.
Evans also appeared intoxicated. Evans performed poorly on a field sobriety test, Blair said. Evans submitted to a chemical test for intoxication. Evans blood alcohol content was .000 grams-percent.
Evans was then transport-ed to a local hospital where she was asked to submit to a blood test, due to the suspicion of prescription medication use, Blair said. Evans complied and was then jailed.
—Tyler M. Kapp, 25, of Crenshaw Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:08 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer on patrol in the area of La. 182 near the U.S. 90 junction noticed a vehicle without any headlights and stopped the vehicle. The driver, Kapp, gave officers consent to search his vehicle, Blair said. Inside the vehicle, officers located suspected marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics. Kapp was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Macy Wiggins, 17, of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:45 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. Wiggins was released on bail.
—Cody Potter, 39, of North Allegheny Court in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 2:14 p.m. Saturday on the charges of driving under suspension and speeding 36 mph in a 20 mph zone. Potter was released on bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Tyrin Watts, 23, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana first offense and no seat belt. Watts was released on $2,250 bail.
—Carmel Triggs, 34, of Tall Timbers Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 4:30 a.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace. Triggs was jailed on $250 bail.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Brandon McClendon, 29, of Mike Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 6:11 a.m. today on a warrant for Morgan City Police Department for the charge of simple battery. McClendon was booked into jail, awaiting transport to Morgan City Police Department.
