Deputy makes arrest after open container found in vehicle

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Jim Stroman, 58, of Cleveland Street in Houma, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Friday for possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy observed a vehicle swerving on U.S. 90 in the Berwick area and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Stroman. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located an open alcoholic beverage. Stroman was released on a summons to appear in court March 21. The vehicle was removed by a family member.

—Joshua Charles Clements, 21, of Rayne Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:03 p.m. Saturday on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista on a warrant from the Morgan City Police Department for failure to appear on the charge of attempted theft. A deputy located Clements on the warrant. Clements was taken to the police station for booking.

—Joshua Davis, 26, of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unlawful use of a driver’s license. A deputy responding to a complaint of a disturbance on Teche Road made contact with Davis and learned of the warrant for his arrest. He was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on a $2,000 bail.

—Shelia Ruffin, 56, of Bayou Black Road in Gibson, was arrested at 12:12 p.m. Sunday on warrants from Morgan City police for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to pay fines and a probation fee. A deputy responding to a complaint on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia made contact with Ruffin and learned of the warrants for her arrest. She was taken to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.

Patterson police arrested the following:

—Darryl Grogan, 49, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:38 a.m. Feb. 4 for a probation violation. He is still being held.

—David Martinez, 49, of Live Oak Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:10 p.m. Feb. 4 for a probation violation. He is still being held.

—William Lightsey, 45, of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Friday on a warrant for simple criminal damage. He was released on bail.

—Shawn Welch, 42, of Gabriel Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:05 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and resisting an officer. Welch is still being held.

—Chane Favors, 37, of Plum Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:02 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Favors is still being held.

—Freddy Bazor, 39, Causey Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 9:28 p.m. Saturday for simple battery domestic violence. He was released on bail.

—Damien Hall, 23, Cedar Street in Franklin, was arrested at 10:54 p.m. Saturday for DWI second offense and expired driver’s license. Hall is still being held.
