Fallen Warriors Memorial

Site work started last week on the Fallen Warriors Memorial, and project organizers say they have reached about 90 percent of their fundraising goal to construct the memorial.

Morgan City Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi and Councilman Louis Tamporello Jr. met with Terry Mayon, co-chairman of the Fallen Warriors Memorial Project, Wednesday morning at Cypress Park to discuss the possible sites in the park where a memorial can be located. Grizzaffi said a recommendation will be made to the City Council at its next meeting April 22. They were joined in the discussion by Dwayne Barbier, recreation department director. Veterans Day targeted for Fallen Warriors Memorial dedication

The City of Morgan City, partnering with a private group, is moving forward with deciding on the location in Cypress Park for a Fallen Warriors Memorial to be dedicated Veterans Day, Nov.
