All-District 7-1A team

The District Most Valuable Player award stayed with the District 7-1A champion Central Catholic Lady Eagle basketball team again this year.
It just simply changed hands.
Central Catholic senior Randi Brown took home the MVP honors during her senior year after fellow senior guard Meo Knight had won the honor in recent years.
Brown, a first-team selection, finished her senior district season with per-game averages of 24.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.6 steals and 4.1 assists in teaming with Knight to lead the Lady Eagles to a 12-0 mark in district play.
Their coach, Jamarr Garrett, was named District 7-1A Coach of the Year.
Knight, who also made the first team, averaged 18.9 points per game, 7.9 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 4.6 assists.
Central Catholic also was represented by senior Gee Garrett on the second team, while senior Anastasia Johnson, juniors Megan Landry and Mary-Beth Blanchard, and freshman Hallie Autin were honorable mention selections.
Landry also was named to the district’s Defensive Team.
Brown and Knight were joined on the first team by Vermilion Catholic’s Katie Frith and Ashailee Brailey and Gueydan’s Ke’ara Charles. Frith, a senior, had per-game averages of 17.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, two steals and two assists, while Brailey, a junior, averaged 15.5 points, 3 rebounds and 3.5 steals. Charles, a freshman, averaged eight points, 10 rebounds, four steals and four assists.
The Lady Eagles also were represented on the Academic All-District team by Knight, Brown, Landry, Blanchard, Autin, freshmen Rebecca David and Emma Aucoin and eighth-grader Taylor Picou.
