Ascension Episcopal girls defeat Berwick, 47-38

Ascension Episcopal outscored Berwick, 30-17, in the second half for a 47-38 victory at Berwick Tuesday.
Trailing 21-17 at halftime, Ascension Episcopal outscored Berwick, 18-13, in the third quarter for a 35-34 lead after three quarters.
In the fourth period, Ascension Episcopal outscored Berwick, 12-4.
Ascension Episcopal led 10-8 after the first quarter, but Berwick outscored them, 13-7, in the second period for a Berwick halftime advantage.
Jordan Lipari led Berwick with 11 points, while Madison Carline also reached double figures with 10 points. Other scorers included Nicole Johnson, six; Sydney Aucoin, five; and Tia Whitehead and Mary Jordan Melancon, three points each.
Monday, Berwick dropped its season opener, 57-17, to Central Lafourche on the road.
Central Lafourche led 11-1 after a quarter, 27-7 at halftime and 39-13 after three quarters.
Carline led Berwick with 12 points. Other scorers included Aucoin, four; and Melancon, one.
Berwick (0-2) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche with a 5 p.m. contest against Central Catholic.
Patterson defeats
Centerville
The Patterson Lumberjills improved to 2-0 this season with a 56-37 victory against Centerville on the road Tuesday.
No individual statistics were available.
Patterson will return to action Thursday when it opens play in Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche with an 8 p.m. contest against Teurlings Catholic.
MCHS falls
to Thibodaux
Thibodaux defeated the Morgan City Lady Tigers, 51-27, in Thibodaux Tuesday.
Alisha Singleton led Morgan City with 10 points. Other Morgan City scorers included Laqwaijha Bourgeois, six; Courtney Welsh, five; and Hailey Lewis, Sh’Diamond Holly and Deryon Johnson, all with two points apiece.
Morgan City (2-1) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche with a 3:30 p.m. contest against Hanson.
CCHS falls to Walker
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles fell to Walker, 45-25, at home Tuesday.
No individual statistics were available.
Monday, Central Catholic defeated West St. Mary, 51-19.
Yani Johnson led the Lady Eagles with 22 points, while Hallie Autin scored 17. Taylor Picou added six.
Central Catholic (4-3) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche against Berwick at 5 p.m.
Berwick routs
Ascension Episcopal
The Berwick Panthers routed Ascension Episcopal, 63-33, in Berwick Tuesday.
No individual stats were available.
Berwick (4-0) will return to action Thursday when it begins play in Terrebonne’s tournament against Grace King at 5 p.m. and Terrebonne at 8 p.m.
Patterson defeats
South Terrebonne
Patterson outscored South Terrebonne, 37-22, in the second half to turn a five-point deficit into a 56-46 victory in the Lumberjacks’ season opener on the road Monday.
Trailing 24-19 at halftime, Patterson outscored South Terrebonne, 24-10, in the third quarter for a 43-34 victory lead after three quarters.
The Lumberjacks followed that up with a 13-12 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
South Terrebonne took a 13-11 lead after a quarter and outscored Patterson, 11-8, in the second period.
Jordan Butler led Patterson with 14 points. Other scorers included Dajon Richard and Kai Schexnayder, eight points apiece; James Butler and Elijah Williams, six points each; Tyric Garrett, five; Khyri Harris, four; Drew Lucas, three; and Titus Dewey, two.
Patterson (1-0) will return to action Thursday when it faces the winner of St. Michael the Archangel and Port Allen at Brusly’s tournament. Patterson’s game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
