Aucoin throws no-hitter as Berwick routs Ellender

Pitcher Sydney Aucoin tossed a no-hitter, and Berwick High School run-ruled Ellender, 10-0, in five innings in nondistrict action in Berwick Wednesday.
In five innings, Aucoin surrendered one walk.
Offensively, Berwick scored all of its runs in the third and fourth innings. The Lady Panthers plated four runs in the third and six in the fourth.
Jaci Arnold led the Lady Panthers with a 3-for-3 performance with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Other top contributors included Madison Carline, 3-for-3, an RBI and two runs; Jordan Lipari, 2-for-3, a double, two RBIs and a run; Hannah Henry, 2-for-2; Mary Grace Theriot, 2-for-3; and Mary Jordan Melancon and Madeleine Hover, each 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Berwick (10-11 overall, 5-4 in District 8-3A) will return to action this weekend with a pair of district games. The Lady Panthers will meet Erath in a 5:30 p.m. district contest Friday, while on Saturday, the squad will face E.D. White at 1 p.m.
Other action today
Other area softball action today includes Morgan City traveling to face Assumption for the District 7-4A championship. That game is set for a 4 p.m. start in Napoleonville.
Elsewhere, Patterson and Central Catholic also will be on the road in respective district contests. Patterson will meet Erath today at 5:30 p.m. in District 8-3A action, while Central Catholic will travel to meet Hanson in a District 7-1A contest set for a 5 p.m. start.
