Berwick boys win team title at Erath Friday

Berwick High School won the boys team title at Erath’s Snooks Relays Saturday, while sophomore Kenan Jones was voted outstanding boys performer.
As a team, Berwick won the 12-team event with 122 points. Second-place Kaplan had 91 points.
Individually, Jones won the 200-meter run (23.17), the high jump (6 feet, 8-inches) and the triple jump (44 feet, 7 inches).
In the high jump, he finished one inch short of tying the Berwick High record of 6 feet, 9 inches set by Chet Broussard in 1982. He attempted 6 feet 10 inches at Saturday’s meet but came up short.
In addition to his other performances at the meet, Jones anchored the Panthers to a first-place finish in the 4x200-meter run (1:34.20.)
On the girls side, Berwick finished 10th out of 14 teams.
Berwick was joined at the meet by Central Catholic.
