Berwick, CCHS face tennis opponents Tuesday

The Berwick High tennis teams split with E.D. White Tuesday as the Lady Panthers won 3-2, while the Panthers fell 4-1.
In girls’ action, Berwick swept the doubles matches. Mary Margaret Sanford and Claire Parsiola beat E.D. White’s Chloe Collins and Catherine Daigle, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1), while Allis Armato and Emma Gray beat Aimee Brien and Magen Waguespack, 5-7, 6-0, 6-4. Abigail Askew and Olivia Orlando also were victorious against E.D. White’s Jeanne Badeaux and Milre Matherne 6-2, 7-6 (13-11).
In singles’ action, Berwick’s Signe Parsiola fell to Alex Donner 1-6, 6-7 (4-7), while Berwick’s Jeanne Marie Hidalgo fell to Sloan Clay 6-4, 4-6, 6-7 (4-7).
In boys’ action, Berwick fell 4-1, with Nate Furlette picking up the Panthers’ victory in singles’ action. Furlette defeated Bremdam Kravet, 0-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).
Berwick’s Riley Credeur fell to John Stafford 2-6, 3-6, while in doubles’ action, Geisler Ibert and Drew Landry fell to E.D. White’s Christian Bernard and Spencer Chaisson 0-6, 0-6, while Austin DeHart and Parker Felterman fell to E.D. White’s Lenel Parham and Taft Duplechain 1-6, 1-6.
Berwick’s Jake Marcel and Levi Porter fell to Tristan Wong and Conner Pate, 0-6, 0-6.
Central Catholic
plays Assumption
Central Catholic took on Assumption Tuesday.
In girls’ action, the Lady Eagles’ Jaclyn Garber and Kate Patterson defeated Amber Simoneaux and Whitney Vernon, 6-1, 6-1, while the team of Jessica Landry and Brook Picou topped Assumption’s Alexis Gaudet and Hailee Landry, 6-1, 6-2.
In other doubles’ action, Shelbi Ourso and Carley Boudreaux defeated Central Catholic’s Lynze Belle and Lindsee Case, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0, while Assumption’s Kelsey Gros and Dani Madre topped Caroline Green and Kerrylyn Luc 6-1, 6-1.
In boys’ action, Zachary Osburn defeated Assumption’s Chase Hinton, 8-4.
In other boys’ action, Assumption’s Spencer Adolph topped Osburn 8-3, while Tyler Aucoin beat Central Catholic’s Gavin Wisdom, 8-1, and Jordan Bourg defeated Wisdom, 8-1.
In other doubles’ action, Central Catholic’s Gage Theriot and Sal Grizzaffi and Quinlan Duffy and Connor Hebert fell to Grant Comeaux and Chance Landry and Matt Coupel and Devon Sedotel, respectively, 6-0, 6-4.
Central Catholic will return to action Friday when it travels to face Vandebilt Catholic.
Berwick and CCHS split
Berwick and Central Catholic split in prep tennis action Friday as Berwick edged Central Catholic in girls’ action 3-2, while Central Catholic took the boys’ contests 5-0.
In girls singles’ action, Berwick’s Signe Parsiola won, while in doubles’ action, the Lady Panthers’ Allis Armato and Emma Gray and Abigail Askew and Olivia Orlando all were victorious. Parisola beat Emma Thomas 8-3, while Armato/Gray beat Jessica Landry and Thomas, 9-7 and Askew/Orlando topped Belle/Case, 6-1, 6-3.
Central Catholic’s Landry defeated Jeanne Marie Hidalgo, 9-8 (7-5) in singles’ action, while in doubles’ action, Central Catholic’s Jaclyn Garber and Kate Patterson beat Mary Margaret Sanford and Claire Parsiola 6-3, 6-7 (9-7), 6-2.
In other girls’ action, Berwick’s Maggie Martin defeated Kerrylyn Luc 8-0, while in doubles’ action, Martin and Hannah Walker beat Central Catholic’s Sara Price and Caroline Green, 8-1.
In boys’ action, Central Catholic’s Osburn beat Riley Credeur and Furlette in singles’ action by scores of 8-2 and 8-1, respectively. Also in singles’ action, Central Catholic’s Gavin Wisdom defeated Porter 8-2.
In doubles’ action, Central Catholic’s Sal Grizzaffi and Gage Theriot defeated Ibert and Drew Landry 6-1, 6-3, while Central Catholic’s Connor Hebert and Quin Duffy defeated Austin DeHart and Felterman 6-2, 6-1.
In other matches, Central Catholic’s Wisdom defeated Marcel 8-5, while Duffy and Hebert topped Credeur and Felterman in double’s action, 8-2.
Morgan City falls
to Assumption
The Morgan City Lady Tigers and Tigers fell to Assumption March 7.
In girls’ action, Morgan City fell 4-1.
The doubles’ squad of Jamie Scioneaux and Amber Colbert picked up Morgan City’s lone win with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Assumption’s Alexis Gaudet and Haylie Landry.
In other doubles’ action, Savannah Loupe and Harleigh Price fell to Assumption’s Amber Simoneaux and Whitney Veron, 6-3, 6-4, while Emily Lacoste and Katelyn Gautreaux fell to Assumption’s Carly Boudreaux and Kelsey Gros, 6-3 and 6-2.
In singles’ action, Morgan City’s Eli Cabrera fell to Caroline Gonzales, 6-2, 6-4, while Krystina Pitre lost to Assumption’s Dina Crochet, 6-0, 6-4.
In boys’ action, Morgan City fell 4-0.
In singles’ action, the Tigers’ Jude Johnson fell 6-0, 6-0, while in doubles’ action, Elijah Franklin and Andre Steckler fell to Assumption’s Grant Comeaux and Chase Hinton, 6-1, 6-0. In other doubles’ action, Omar Ledezma and Johnny Ha and Mason Rutledge and Luke Matherne fell to Matt Coupel and Chance Landry and Devon Sedotal and Tyler Aucoin, respectively, each by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Morgan City returned to action today when it traveled to face St. Thomas More, while the squads will play at home Thursday against Episcopal School of Acadiana.
