Berwick finishes 2-0 at jamboree

Berwick High School finished 2-0 at the Morgan City High School baseball jamboree Saturday to lead area teams.
The Panthers defeated Franklin, 12-2, and Morgan City, 6-4.
Berwick will return to action today when it opens its regular season at home at 6 p.m. against Vandebilt Catholic.
Patterson finishes
1-0-1 at jamboree
The Patterson Lumberjacks finished 1-0-1 at Morgan City’s baseball jamboree Saturday, tying Hanson, 1-1, and knocking off Morgan City, 3-1.
In the Hanson, matchup, each team scored their run in the first inning.
Tyrik Singleton finished 1-for-1 with a double, while Jamey Fabre had an RBI.
Sirbatian Charles earned the win for Patterson. In two innings, he surrendered an unearned run on a hit with two walks and fanned six.
Brenan Gouaux pitched an inning and fanned one.
Against Morgan City, Patterson plated two runs in the second and another in the third, while Morgan City scratched across its lone run in its final at bat in the bottom of the third.
Bryce Beaubouef led Patterson with a 2-for-2 performance with a home run, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base. Other top contributors included Blake Dreyer, 1-for-1, an RBI; and Singleton, 1-for-2, a double and a run.
Joel Singleton earned the win for Patterson. He pitched an inning and allowed a hit and fanned one.
Gouaux pitched an inning and allowed a hit, while Hector Tolento pitched an inning and allowed one earned run on two hits with one walk.
Patterson is scheduled to open its season Tuesday at home with a 6:45 p.m. contest against John Ehret.
Morgan City finishes
0-2 at jamboree
The Morgan City Tigers finished 0-2 at its jamboree Saturday.
The Tigers fell to Berwick, 6-4, and Patterson, 3-1.
Morgan City is scheduled to open its season today when it hosts Catholic High-New Iberia in a 4 p.m. contest.
CCHS wins at Central Lafourche Jamboree
Central Catholic defeated South Lafourche, 7-2, at the Central Lafourche Jamboree Saturday in Matthews.
Adam Dupuis led the Eagles with a 3-for-4 performance and two RBIs. Other top contributors included Stefano Guarisco, 2-for-2, two doubles and an RBI; Patrick Barron, 2-for-2, an RBI; Mitchell Lemoine, 1-for-4, two RBIs; and Blake Hidalgo, an RBI.
On the mound, Greg Leger pitched two innings and surrendered two unearned runs on one hit with three walks and four strikeouts, while Blake Hidalgo pitched two innings and surrendered two walks and fanned three. Patrick Barron pitched an inning and surrendered a walk and fanned one, while Charlie Solar pitched an inning and fanned one.
Central Catholic will open its season Thursday against Thibodaux at 3:15 p.m. in the Tri-City Tournament’s site at Patterson High.
