Berwick finishes 2-1 Saturday at Assumption’s tournament
Berwick finished 2-1 Saturday at Assumption’s tournament, defeating Thibodaux and Donaldsonville while falling to South Terrebonne.
The Lady Panthers defeated Thibodaux 2-1 (31-29, 21-25, 15-12), Donaldsonville 2-0 (25-3, 25-11) and fell to South Terrebonne 2-1 (25-23, 25-27, 12-15).
Against Thibodaux, junior Ashton Morales led Berwick with one ace, 12 kills, 10 assists and two digs, while senior Hannah Carpenter had two aces, four kills and 12 digs.
Other top contributors included senior Abigail Askew, six kills and one block; sophomore Mary Jordan Melancon, two kills, eight assists and two digs; sophomore Roslyn Gros, four aces and six digs; and senior Rennen Delatte, five digs.
Against Donaldsonville, Melancon had five aces and one dig, while sophomore Jordan Lipari had two aces and three kills.
Other top contributors included Gros, three aces, one assist and one dig; sophomore Emma Hover, three aces; freshman Brittany Roberie, one ace, one kill, four assists and two digs; sophomore Morgan Romero, one ace, one kill, two assists and two digs; and Carpenter, one ace and two digs.
In the match against South Terrebonne, Carpenter had one ace, one kill and 17 digs, while Delatte had 14 digs.
Other top contributors included Morales, two aces, two kills, one block, four assists and three digs; Lipari, six kills, one assist and four digs; Askew, seven kills; Melancon, one kill, nine assists and one dig; and Gros, two aces and eight digs.
Berwick (4-2) will return to action today when it hosts Terrebonne. Junior varsity action is set for 4 p.m., while varsity will be played at 5 p.m.

The Central Catholic Lady Eagles finished 1-2 at Assumption’s tournament Saturday with a win against Donaldsonville and losses to Central Lafourche and East Ascension.
The Lady Eagles defeated Donaldsonville 2-0 (25-16, 25-16) and fell to Central Lafourche 2-1 (25-20, 24-26, 10-15) and East Ascension 2-0 (25-19, 25-16).
Against Donaldsonville, senior Kaitlyn Gros led the Lady Eagles with 14 digs and six aces, while senior Brittany Longman had seven kills and five digs, and freshman Taylor Picou, four aces.
Against Central Lafourche, Gros led Central Catholic with six kills, nine assists and three digs, while Longman had five kills and Picou, two aces.
In the East Ascension match, Gros again led Central Catholic with five kills, five assists, one ace and four digs, while sophomore Hallie Autin had five kills and junior Samantha Willoughby had four digs.
Central Catholic (3-4) will return to action today when it hosts John Curtis. Junior varsity action is set for a 4:30 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 5:30 p.m.

The Morgan City Lady Tigers dropped both their matches at Assumption’s tournament Saturday, falling to Comeaux and Ascension Episcopal.
The Lady Tigers fell to Comeaux 2-0 (12-25, 14-25) and Ascension Episcopal 2-1 (27-29, 25-22, 10-15).
Against Comeaux, senior Brandi Ingram had one kill and 11 digs, while junior Cecily Feliciano had one ace, one kill, three assists and two digs.
Other top contributors included senior Jaiveianna Jones, one ace, four kills and one dig; freshman Kennedy Hebert, four kills and four digs; and junior Karley Guidry, one ace and four assists.
Against Ascension Episcopal, Jones had 12 kills, two blocks and three digs, while Guidry had five aces, eight assists and two digs.
Other top contributors included Feliciano, two aces, six assists and six digs; Hebert, one ace, three kills, one block and four digs; Ingram, three kills and seven digs; and junior Dwanna LeBeau, one ace, one block, one assist and three digs.
Morgan City (2-3) will return to action today when it hosts New Iberia. Freshmen action is set for 3 p.m. with junior varsity and varsity to follow.
