Berwick Lady Panthers win first match of season

The Berwick Lady Panthers won their first game of the season and first district contest Monday, defeating E.D. White, 23-4, at Creole Lanes in Houma.
Brianna Toups led the squad with a game of 168, while teammate Shannon Derise bowled a 155.
Wednesday, Berwick dropped a district contest to Morgan City, 23-4, at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City.
Haidyn Derise led Berwick with a 151, while Shannon Derise bowled a 150.
On Jan. 25, Berwick fell to H.L. Bourgeois, 26-1, at Creole Lanes.
Shannon Derise bowled a 180, while Toups had games of 150 and 169.
MCHS girls
remain undefeated
The Morgan City High School girls bowling team won their first two district games of the season, routing Houma Christian, 25-2, Monday at Creole Lanes in Houma and defeating Berwick, 23-4, Wednesday at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City.
Against Houma Christian, Meghan Amador led the team with a 549 series (167, 170 and 212), while Hannah Pipes added a 528 series (179, 156 and 193). Other top Morgan City bowlers included Marissa Davis (224), Mackenzie Amador (167) and Ali Tregle (164).
Against Berwick, Amador led the squad with a 658 series (203, 200, 255), while Pipes added a 637 series (205, 210, 222). Other top contributors included Tregle (168) and Mackenzie Amador (159).

matches this week
The Berwick Panthers split their matches this week, opening district play with a 19-8 win against E.D. White Monday at Creole Lanes in Houma but falling to Morgan City, 22-5, in district play at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City Wednesday.
Against E.D. White, Abram Gilder led Berwick with a 557 series (212, 195). Other top Berwick bowlers included Scott Price (191), Hunter Kapp (173) and Kyle Valdez (164, 180).
Against Morgan City, Gilder led Berwick with a 689 series (234, 189, 266). Other top Berwick bowlers included Ian Valdez (189, 180) and Tristan McGonagill (167).
On Jan. 25, Berwick fell to Vandebilt Catholic, 21-6, at Creole Lanes in Houma.
Gilder led Berwick with a 558 series (170, 199, 189). Other top bowlers included Kyle Valdez (178) and Price (168).
MCHS goes 1-1
this week
The Morgan City boys’ bowling team finished the week 1-1, falling to Houma Christian in a close match, 15-12, while defeating Berwick, 22-5.
Against Houma Christian, Morgan City led 9-7 after two games, but Houma Christian rallied in the third game to take three points, two bonus points for most pins knocked down in the game and three additional points for most total pins knocked down in the match to win.
Jonathan Spinella led Morgan City with a 620 series (195, 199, 226), while Jayson Hidalgo added a 550 series (219, 173). Other top Morgan City bowlers included Zachary Aucoin (165, 212), Zachary Stewart (190, 183), Jason Myers (177) and Hau Vo (170, 163).
Wednesday, Morgan City beat Berwick, 22-5
Aucoin led Morgan City with a 652 series (224, 236, 192), while Hidalgo added a 641 series (215, 205, 221). Other top Morgan City bowlers included Stewart (214, 161), Devin Mayon (185, 206) and Vo (160).
CCHS drops lone
match of the week
Central Catholic fell to E.D. White, 23-4, in district play at Creole Lanes in Houma Wednesday.
Emily Price led Central Catholic with a 190, while Dave Laubach added a 185.
