Berwick Panthers remain undefeated in District 8-3A action

The Berwick High School Panthers improved to 2-0 in District 8-3A play with a 67-45 victory against Erath at home Friday.
Audwin Williams led the Panthers with 19 points.
Other scorers included Larenz Clark and Silton Span, eight points each; Donald Tillman and Travis Whitehead, seven points apiece; Tysin Meads, six; Cody Roberie and Tavaris Howard, four points apiece; and Josh Carver and Grant Oubre, two points each.
Berwick (13-8 overall, 2-0 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face District 8-3A rival Patterson High School in a 7:45 p.m. contest.
Patterson routs Kaplan
The Patterson Lumberjacks routed the Kaplan Pirates, 68-34, in the Lumberjacks’ District 8-3A opener at home Friday.
Patterson outscored Kaplan in every quarter except the third, jumping out to a 30-4 lead after a quarter and extending it to 46-12 at halftime.
The Lumberjacks led 51-22 after three quarters.
Taylan Grogan led the Lumberjacks with 19 points.
Other scorers included Jordan Butler, 15; Nehemiah Augustus, seven; Kenneth Washington, six; D.J. Jones and Tyric Garrett, five points each; Dajon Richard, four; Deondre Diggs, two; and RJ Talver, one.
Patterson (10-4 overall, 1-0 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Berwick in a 7:45 contest.
MCHS dominates South Plaquemines
The Morgan City Tigers coasted past South Plaquemines 63-27 in nondistrict action in Morgan City Friday.
Morgan City led 26-0 after the first quarter, 39-1 at halftime, and 56-13 after three quarters.
Makye Richard and Ke’sean Francois led Morgan City with 11 points apiece, while Taaj Daniels added 10.
Other scorers included Lloyd Singleton, seven; Jared Singleton, six; Clifton Escort, four; Zion Landry, four points; Ethan Nguyen, and Abram Hartley, three points apiece; and Tywuan Walker and DeAndre Grogan, two points apiece;
Morgan City (11-8) will return to action today when it hosts E.D. White. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow.
Centerville upsets Central Catholic
Centerville High School upset Central Catholic 52-42 in District 7-1A action in Centerville Friday.
The second and fourth quarters doomed Central Catholic as they were outscored a combined 29-12.
While Central Catholic led 12-10 after the first quarter, Centerville outscored them 14-4 in the second period for a 24-16 halftime lead.
Central Catholic closed the gap to 37-34 after three quarters before Centerville pulled away in the fourth period.
Centerville connected on nine three-pointers in the win, while the Eagles made five.
Elijah Swan led the Eagles with 11 points, while Jalen Johnson was right behind with 10 points.
Other scorers for Central Catholic included Brooks Thomas, Davidyionne Bias and Tanner Wiggins with six points apiece; and Blake Byrne with three.
Central Catholic (2-10, 0-2) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Highland Baptist in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
