Berwick, Patterson softball players receive district recognition

Berwick High and Patterson High school softball players each received All-District 8-3A recognition.
While neither team had a first-team selection, the two squads combined for seven second-team picks.
For Berwick, pitcher Jordan Lipari, first baseman Jaci Arnold, second baseman Hannah Henry, outfielder Emma Aucoin, designated player Madison Carline and utility selection Sydney Aucoin all were selected to the second team.
Patterson pitcher Tapanga Haven and catcher Haley Sehon were the Lumberjills’ second-team selections.
Berwick had one honorable mention selection Mary Jordan Melancon.
Patterson had six honorable mention picks: Cayla Wiggins, Madison Goolsby, Ashlyn Rock, Mackenzie Marcel, Madison Paul and Makayla Knight.
North Vermilion’s Shelby LeBlanc was the district’s most valuable player, while North Vermilion coach Joy LeBlanc was the district’s Coach of the Year.
