Berwick sweeps Patterson in volleyball

The Berwick High School Lady Panthers defeated Patterson High School, 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-15) in nondistrict play in Patterson Wednesday.
Berwick had 12 aces in the victory.
Mary Jordan Melancon led the Lady Panthers with two aces, five kills, 11 assists and seven digs. Other top contributors included Brittany Roberie, two aces and 18 digs; Alyssa Gray, two kills, nine assists and four digs; Roslyn Gros, five aces, one kill and five digs; Sydney Aucoin, nine kills and one dig; and Jordan Lipari, three aces, two kills, one assist and one dig.
In the loss, Makayla Ruiz led Patterson with two aces, five kills and 11 digs. Other top offensive contributors included Josie Merida, three digs and eight assists; Gabby Marcel, one kill, seven digs and one assist; Erykah Singleton, two aces and five kills; Katelyn Larson, one kill and six digs; and Kiora Grady, two kills and two blocks.
Patterson (1-2) and Berwick (3-7) will return to action today in Morgan City’s annual Lady Tiger Classic. Patterson will meet Thibodaux at 3 p.m. today in Morgan City High School’s Boys Gym, while Berwick will face South Lafourche at 6 p.m. in Morgan City High School’s MultiPurpose Building.
