Berwick tops Erath in overtime for consolation title

Berwick High School won the consolation title of Ascension Episcopal’s tournament Wednesday with a 57-56 overtime victory against Erath.
Berwick forced overtime after Audwin Williams connected on a fourth-quarter three-pointer tied the game at 54.
Williams then scored all three of the Panthers’ points in overtime for the victory.
Williams, who led the Panthers with 23 points, was named to the all-tournament team.
Berwick took a 16-6 lead after the first quarter and 27-15 advantage at the half.
However, in the third and fourth quarters, Erath outscored Berwick to climb their way back into the game. Erath outscored Berwick 17-12 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 39-32.
In the fourth quarter, Erath had a 22-15 scoring advantage to tie the game at 54 following regulation.
Other top scorers for the Panthers included Tim Shelby, 11; Brandon Naverro, 10; Tré Matthews, 6; and Cody Roberie, 5.
Berwick (4-1) will return to action Monday when it hosts Covenant Christian.
