Berwick is undefeated at Assumption's tournament

The Berwick Lady Panthers finished 2-0 at Assumption’s tournament Thursday with wins against Central Catholic and Central Lafourche.
The Lady Panthers defeated Central Catholic 25-23, 25-23 and Central Lafourche 25-12, 25-19.
Against Central Catholic, sophomore Mary Jordan Melancon led the Lady Panthers with two aces, one kill, seven assists and five digs.
Other top contributors included junior Ashton Morales, one ace, six kills and five assists; senior Abigail Askew, seven kills and one block; senior Hannah Carpenter, one ace, one assist and 11 digs; and sophomore Roslyn Gros, four aces and four digs.
Against Central Lafourche, Morales led Berwick with two aces, four kills, eight assists and two digs.
Other top contributors included Askew, six kills; Carpenter, two aces, two kills and seven digs; Melancon, two kills, six assists and one dig; sophomore Sydney Aucoin, two aces and three kills; Gros, two aces and four digs; and senior Rennen Delatte, five digs.
Berwick (2-1) will return to action Saturday when it plays Thibodaux in the tournament at 11 a.m. and Donaldsonville at 2 p.m.
Morgan City goes 1-1
in tournament
Morgan City finished 1-1 at Assumption’s tournament with a win against Vandebilt Catholic, but fell to E.D. White.
Morgan City defeated Vandebilt 25-15, 17-25, 15-8, while falling to E.D. White 23-25, 14-25.
Against Vandebilt, senior Jaiveianna Jones led the Lady Tigers with five kills, three blocks, one assist and one dig, while sophomore Paige Loftin had four aces, five kills and two digs.
Other top contributors included junior Karley Guidry, two kills, one block, 13 assists and two digs; senior Brandi Ingram, two kills and eight digs; and junior Alexandra Thompson, one ace, two kills, one block, one assist and two digs.
In the E.D. White match, Jones had one ace, four kills, two blocks and one dig to lead Morgan City.
Other top contributors included Guidry, four aces, seven assists and three digs; and Ingram, two kills and nine digs.
Morgan City (2-1) will return to action Saturday when it faces Comeaux at 9 a.m. The Lady Tigers also will play Ascension Episcopal at 1 p.m.
Central Catholic
splits matches
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles split its two matches at Assumption’s tournament Thursday, falling to Berwick before bouncing back with a win against Thibodaux.
While the Lady Eagles fell 23-25, 23-25 to Berwick, they defeated Thibodaux 25-18, 25-21.
Senior Kaitlyn Gros led Central Catholic with two aces and 23 assists, while sophomore Emma Aucoin had 11 digs.
Other top contributors included freshman Quincee Wiggins and junior Lindsee Case, three kills apiece; senior Brittany Longman, eight digs; sophomore Rebecca David, two blocks; and sophomore Hallie Autin, two aces.
Against Thibodaux, Autin led the Lady Eagles with eight kills, 10 digs and three aces.
Other top contributors were Longman, eight kills; and Gros, 12 assists.
Central Catholic (2-2) will return to action Saturday when it faces Donaldsonville at 10 a.m. and Central Lafourche at 1 p.m.
