Big sixth inning lifts Taco Bell past Halimar, 14-9

Taco Bell exploded for nine runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull away from Halimar Shipyard, 14-9, in Swampland League baseball action in Amelia Thursday.
Tied at five heading into the top of the sixth, Taco Bell scored nine runs for a 14-5 lead.
Halimar scored two runs in the bottom of the frame and two more in the bottom of the seventh.
Bradley Gray led Taco Bell with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, two RBIs and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Kyle Pitre, 2-for-3, two runs; Reid Wiley, 1-for-2, an RBI and two runs; Andrew Askew, 1-for-3, two RBIs and a run; Austin Price, 1-for-3, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs; Cameron Wiley, 1-for-4, two RBIs, a stolen base and a run; D.J. Robichaux, 1-for-4, two RBIs and a run; and Lucas Hatch, an RBI.
Denver Jenkins earned the win in relief. In two innings, he surrendered four runs — all earned — on four hits with three walks, two hit batters and two strikeouts.
Patrick Robertson started the game and in five innings, he pitched 3.2 innings, surrendered five runs — one earned — on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell edged Halimar, 7-6, scoring the winning run in the top of the fourth.
While Halimar took a 5-0 lead after an inning, Taco Bell responded with four runs in the top of the second.
Halimar extended its lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the second, but Taco Bell tied the game in the top of the third and scored another run in the fourth.
Zeph DeLatte led Taco Bell offensively as he finished 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Rustin Ratcliff, 1-for-1, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs; Evan Thomas, 1-for-1, two RBIs; Shayne Berger, 1-for-2, an RBI, two stolen bases and a run; Adam Askew, 1-for-3, a double and a run; and Ryan Domingue, an RBI, a stolen base and a run.

On Wednesday, Grant Oubre tossed a three-hitter and Taco Bell defeated Praxair (H.L. Bourgeois), 2-0, in Berwick.
Oubre earned the win as he surrendered three hits, walked three, hit two batters and fanned five in seven innings of work.
Offensively, Taco Bell scored a run apiece in the first and fourth innings.
Price led Taco Bell with a 2-for-3 performance. Other top offensive contributors included Gray, 1-for-3, a double, an RBI and a stolen base; Pitre, 1-for-3, a double and a run; and Ty Duthu, 1-for-2, an RBI.
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell defeated Praxair, 12-1.
Lucas Hatch earned the complete-game victory, tossing a one-hitter. In five innings, he surrendered one unearned run with five strikeouts.
After Praxair scored a run in the top of the third, Taco Bell responded with eight runs in the bottom of the third and four more in the bottom of the fourth.
Reed Gonzales led Taco Bell with a 1-for-1 performance with a double, two RBIs and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Berger, 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run; Brett Williams and Hunter Landry, each 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run; Askew, 1-for-3, two RBIs and a run; Hatch, 1-for-3, an RBI; Ratcliff and Alex Orlando, each an RBI and a run.
Taco Bell (7-2) and Halimar (2-6) will return to the field again today when they meet in Berwick. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.

Synergy Bank defeated TrimCo Millwork and Supply, 6-2, in Swampland baseball action Thursday
Brad Beaubouef suffered the loss for TrimCo Millwork (Patterson). In four-plus innings, he surrendered five runs — four unearned — on seven hits.
Offensively, Brandt Lightsey led TrimCo Millwork with a single and a double, while Jamey Fabre had a single and an RBI.
Synergy Bank (E.D. White) and TrimCo Millwork (1-8) will return to action today at Patterson High School. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
